You must have signed up for a premium bundle to be getting that kind of GC! Good luck! I'm dumping Verizon FIOS on Monday. I'll be saving $100+/month with Comcast XFinity and I'll be getting more channels, faster internet speeds and more set-top HD boxes. And they're throwing in an iPad mini after I've been with them for 90 days. They were also offering a $150 Visa GC for a similar package but it cost $10 per month more. Over a 2-year period, they would have gotten their $150 back plus another $90. So even though I have no need for the iPad, I chose it over the GC.

Actually, we did not get any premium package. Verizon is new to our area and outside of Cox, our only options are Directv or Dish. We were loyal to Directv for 10 years but they refused to adjust our pricing and Cox internet was a waste of $65/month. So for now, it's a good deal IMO.

I've been with FIOS since they came to our area. Same deal when they first arrived in the neighborhood...great sign up bonus, relatively low package price when compared to Comcast. The internet was much better and Comcast couldn't beat their rates! Fast forward 5 years and their prices for existing customers skyrocketed, even if you signed up for a new 2-year contract.

I got suckered into what should have been better Verizon internet for less money about 2 months ago and it has been a nightmare. Fortunately, as I was nearing the close of the 30-day window for canceling the contract, I switched it to month-to-month service while we tried to work through the connection problems. Without going through a litany of ineffective proposed solutions (some of which were absurd but I tried anyway), the last service tech I spoke to told me that he had no other solutions to offer other than to go back and change my password to all caps and only letters A-G.

Up to this point, I was happy with my Verizon service. I just wasn't happy with the cost. Now, not only does the price suck, so does the service. So, I'm kicking them to the curb. I hope your experience with them is better. It probably will be, because they are eager for customers in a new area to have nothing but praise for them so that your neighbors will follow suit.

Two years ago I got a $300 GC from Comcast. My contract was up with them and they redid me for two yeras with another $200 GC. I will be adding the $200 GC to our Disney fund also. Or paying for CRT with it.

We do get the premium packages. We don't go out much and really enjoy our tv time. We have four boxes with DVR, two are HD boxes and all premium channels.
