Hello All,

I would like to purchase a small contract at BWV with my current use year. My question is....How often do contracts come along that meet specific criteria ? Is this pie in the sky or is it realistic in a 3 to 6 month time frame.

On ocassion, I have found other DVC properties that meet my criteria and am wondering if I should just purchase that property. I would only purchase a property that I wouldn't mind owning, luckily there are a few I would be interested in, just not my first choice. I own at BLT and would like something closer to Epcot and the BWV fills the bill nicely.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Merry Christmas !!

should be realistic. just be aware that small contracts can sell for a little more than larger contracts. (also, there is a post somewhere on the boards about the relative distribution of use year months by resort - it might make a difference if you have a rare UY month rather than a common one.)

if you are in a rush, you can add-on directly. even at so-called "sold out" resorts. naturally that costs more.

you would not be able to mix points from different resorts until you get to the 7 month window.

but if your small contract at BWV can operate on its own for BWV trips, then that would still be a great choice... (the BWV contract will expire in 2042, though.)

Thanks for the response Charles. I am thinking 75 points or so at BWV (100 might be better) just in case we want to do the Food and Wine or some other activity going on. We are brand new at this but... we are learning quickly thanks to you guys. :)

I just don't want to wait and wait for what I am looking for and pass up good deals on other properties in the process. Take Care !!

That is exactly what we did. Purchased our large # of points at BLT..... then a few months later 60 points at Boardwalk. Perfect for 5 nights at BWV, in a studio..... though I haven't used them for that yet.

Alice, did you purchase resale or direct from Disney ??? I'm wondering if contracts of that size are common place.

I purchased re-sale. Looked at a few 50 point contracts, then the 60 came along. It was an odd # , but I wanted more than 50 and thought 75 was too much.
Studio, standard view, Sun-Thurs, during October was about 45 points at that time. I wanted to have a few extra points to cover myself in case DVC raised the points I'd need for that week.

I browsed re-sale sites for about 6 weeks.

I didn't care about use year though..... it didn't matter to me.

My BLT (300 points) are Feb. use year. BWV (60 points) are April use year.

I have mixed the points for reservations, CM just links them together.

When you say that you "mixed points", you mean that you booked whole nights with each membership and had the CM link them, correct?

From what I have been told, that is the only way to do it without the transfer option since two UY's means two memberships.

Yes, that is how I did it.

2 weeks ago I traveled on a reservation that was 3 nights, nights 1 and 3 were BWV points, night 2 was BLT ...... CM just linked them together.
Originally I paid cash for night #2 , as no DVC was available. I waitlisted for that night and it came through after about a week. I was then able to cancel the (overpriced!) cash reservation.

I am want to get the same use year, August. I'll be patient for a few months :) but I'm gonna stay on top of it for sure. We'll see how it goes. I see exactly what I am looking for at VWL and I am tempted...

Etemplet: I want to be clear - I am not selling, but I was just looking - have you looked very recently?

Had most nose in the computer the last few days and most of the day. :) I've checked off and on for the last month or so for BWV. I found something really interesting at VWL that peaked my interest. They have an offer on that so...now I am going to focus on the contract I want at BWV.

I only check at TSS and Fidelity, the latter being my preference to deal with. I checked another place for the first time yesterday. I have looked on Ebay which is not something I want to do...I was just checking so...a long winded YES.

Good, I wanted to make sure you saw the VWL listing because you mentioned it as a possibility. I had just looked at it prior to reading your post and I remembered thinking it sounded like a great deal for someone looking to buy in there - UY too. Good luck - hopefully you won't find something to quick - looking is a lot of fun :)

Yes the VWL was the one I was considering...it was perfect other than not being at my first choice property. I do believe though, that there are no bad properties to own, some just fit us better. We really need to stick with a BWV resale and that is our plan. No reason to hurry at all. I believe the decision we will have to make is staying with our current use year.

Thanks for the input.
