There have been several posts regarding DVC members' desire to add-on points with an identical contract use year to their existing contract(s). Other than some minimal administrative benefit to this approach, are there other reasons to align contract use years?

If you are adding on thru Disney, they require that the points are added to one of your existing contracts. You can add on whatever use year you can get if you buy resale, but most of those are not economically cheaper than Disney. I have 3 contracts and 2 add-ons, so I have a bit of experience with this. I have a notebook dedicated to just keeping track of banking, borrowing, and when all the points were used, and how many points are left. I have 3 use years and two home resorts, so do not underestimate the administrative benefits of one use year. Sometimes it is a nightmare trying to figure out where all those points went to.

Wow - I don't envey you (paper work wise at least, I'm sure total point wise I'm jealous;) )

Here's my thought on why use year is important - if they are the same year you have more banking options at later dates for future 11 month window. Even if they are different resorts, it is all one total point value.

For example, I have:
200 Boardwalk Points
200 Hilton Head Points

At my 6 month window, if they are all the same use year (and I haven't used anything yet) I can bank all of one resort, if I choose. If they are seperate contracts, at either 6 month window than I can only bank 100 points from that resort.

Hope that makes sense, if not tell me and I'll try to explain it differently.

Sandy
