My MIL wants to buy some points so she can get a room for herself and go whenever we go. She will most likely be booking a studio and her vacation would run her just 90 points.

Now, if she purchases herself, she would have to get 160 points right?

But if she urchases a 100 point add-on to our contract, could we add her name to just that contract or would it give her access to the rest of our points as well?

I would be making most if not all of her reservations for her and she doesn't understand any of how DVC works no matter how many times I would explain it to her.

Contracts and add-ons need to be in same names. If your original contract has two names, you cannot buy an add-on to that contract in three names. However, they are currently selling 100 pt AKV contracts to new buyers.

Thanks for the info. What are the incentives for new buyers ? Can she add my name on it since I will be doing all the booking?

I believe the current deal is as follows: buy 100 points, get $8 per point off $104 price so price is $96 per point, put at least $500 down, get AKV 2009 points that cannot be used before May 2009, get equal amount of "developer points" that can be used now but only at SSR or a Disneyland hotel, also get a $500 Disney gift card.

As far as putting your name on any account, and unless you are actually going to be one of the owners on the deed (which you can do if the purchase is in both your names), your MIL, after the sale, could add you to the membership as an "associate member." Those do not get all the perks but can make reservations, or bank, borrow, or transfer points.
