Hi Everyone, just put in my first bid for Boardwalk Villas for 50 points, don't know if it will be accepted but the small number of points got me to thinking. I know from DVCNews that Disney offers additionl points at a discount to members. But is that just for people who bought direct or do they make the same offer to those of us who bought into a resale DVC contract too?

I did not get the Boardwalk for 50 points, but a bid was accepted for 150 Boardwalk last summer. I was not offered any additional points at a discount, but Disney did offer financing on the full price points.

I don't believe Disney has offered any discounts on the sold out resorts probably since your first post back in 2013. And they've also increased the prices on those resorts quite a bit in that time too. Financing requires purchasing a minimum of 50 points while if paying cash the minimum purchase is 25 points.

If/when they offer discounts for add-on points they appear to be available for those who bought resale as well as those you purchased direct originally.

Discounts from Disney are offerred only on resorts not yet initially sold out (currently those are only Poly and Aulani). Older resorts are just offerred at a set price per point, which for most older resorts may be lower than the newer ones. Here is the current pricing http://www.dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-program/financial/pricing-a-promotions. You can currently buy a 25 point add-on from Disney if you pirchased resale after early April and get all the benefits that purchasers who purchased before then have. It may not necessarily be easy to get those add-on points quickly because previoulsy sold out resorts can sometimes have the issue of Disney's not having points currently available (it gets those via foreclosures and exercising right of first refusal on resales) and thus you may need to go on a wait list, and even for that a resort may have the issue that wait lists are currently closed because so many are already on it (BCV and VGC are currently barring getting on a wait list).
