I've been teetering and tottering over this dilemma for the past 2 months...We own at SSR and would like to do a small add-on. my dilemma is there is something about WL that I just love and this is where I'd like to do our add-on...however, as MUCH as I love the WL, the villa decor doesn't seem to strike my fancy...we stayed at the lodge in February( regular room) and just fell in love with the lodge itself.....funny thing is, Epcot is our favorite park and yet we have no desire to buy an add-on at BWV or BCV...so we are not doing an add-on to be near our favorite park...we have 200 points at present and do forsee that an additional 50 would be beneficial

I just don't know which way to go. as I see it, these are my 3 options:

1. buy 50 points at WL because I love the place
2. buy 50 points at SSR to get new incentive ( 2 passes) - also will probably make future bookings easier
3. buy nothing right now - wait to see what DVC announces in the near future

help!! what would you do?

I'd buy the SSR and just try to book at WLV.

Even though you say you don't care for the decor of the rooms at VWL, it seems that you still want to stay there. As long as that's the case, I'd get my 50 extra points at VWL so at least you've got a guaranteed stay there to supplement your SSR points.

I'd go with VWL myself... I didn't like the villa decor when it was built either, but then we wound up staying there for a weekend & while we were staying there we really decided we DID like the decor... it really surprised us... We had decided to buy an add on there, but then decided we really didn't need an additional set of points at this time.....

Although I haven't stayed at VWL yet, from the pictures I've seen I actually like the look of the studios better than the WL rooms.

DH and I did a 60 point add-on at VWL last month, just to make sure we could stay there every other year or so during early December.

yup!! that's exactly what I'm looking to do! and I realize there is NO way I'll be able to book early December at the 7 month window! so I'm debating just staying at SSR and spending a half day at WL -eating, swimming, chilling....this way I'll still be able to enjoy the holiday decorations that I hear are so gorgeous...with me being a December baby, I want to start spending some of my birthdays in my favorite place ( with of course, my favorite people)!

still thinking it over...and my guide has been so great, he's really not pressing me one way or the other. just listens to my reasons for buying, not buying, where to buy!!! so many choices!!!my problem is I'm one of those people on the way to the check-out line in the stores that talks myself out of buying the un-necessaries! lol......

We stayed for the first time ever last week at VWL in a studio. I hadn't counted on falling in love with this resort the way I did as I am a true beach lover and never thought the theming would appeal to me that much.

However, I loved the intimate size of this resort, walking to anywhere at this resort, and having quick access to everything it has to offer, was so easy and so scenic. I have a 4 year old granddaughter, and we loved having the MK just a short, relaxing boat ride away. I loved all of the quiet, relaxing places to just soak up the atmosphere and people watch for a bit, or sit on the porches with rocking chairs, or our balcony, and listen to the sounds of nature at night.

The pools and water amenties are simply heavenly! We also plan to add on here in the future and can't wait to return!

Have you stayed in a VWL studio? Perhaps on an upcoming trip you could stay there for a night or two after staying at SSR and see which you like the best, then make your decision. If the decor really bums you out at VWL, then do your add on at SSR and do "day trips" to WL for dining, atmosphere.

Not staying at VWL, but visiting the resort for the day one time, made me just ache and think to myself "Why the heck aren't we staying here." So, as far as I'm concerned, just visiting isn't the same as staying there.
