DH and I are planning to add on to our inititial contract purchase of 160 pts at BLT. I am still struggling with what the right options are though.

Now that the new resale policies have gone into effect can anyone comment on the effects they are seeing in the market?

Also, why is Saratoga Springs so much cheaper - I know that the contract end dates are different - but it is hard to understand why BLT is 140 a pt and Saratoga is 99.

I know that the 7 month and 11 month window are the big drivers for chosing your home resort but at some point it seems to be worth while to just go for the less expensive points and get MORE!!

Thoughts?

As far as resale prices, they have not gone down much since 3/20, although a buyer may be able to put in a lower bid and get an acceptance, particularly for a large contract. Your post makes it sound like you are planning on buying direct. The price difference between SSR and BLT is likely due to the fact that BLT is shiny, new and selling like hotcakes, compared to SSR.

What to do really depends on what you want to do with your points. If you are looking to get longer stays or larger rooms at BLT, then buying more BLT makes some sense. If you are looking to have a second home resort to use during a different time of year, then buying points at a different resort will save you quite a bit of money, depending on how many points you are talking about. There are great prices on the resale market for BWV, OKW, SSR and AKL currently. Of course, the contracts at BWV and OKW end in 2042, SSR in 2054 and AKL is the longest at 2057. There are some OKW contract out there with the 2057 extension.

The 11 month booking window is most important during popular times of the year. If you want to go during the holidays or Spring break, you would be better off having all of your points at one resort, unless you would like to do a split stay.

also, all OKW contracts purchased directly include the 2057 extension.

still, if you want to be assured of walking to the MK in the morning, buy BLT and book at 11 months out. if you are happy to just be onsite at wdw, SSR and OKW resales are pretty tempting deals...
