We are booked for Poly Sun - Sat. We'd like to add a day and check out Sunday instead.

The room is not showing available for Sun - Sun, but is showing available for Sunday only (... weird, I know).

If I book a separate, room only reservation for Sunday, will they allow us to stay in the same room on Sunday? Both reservations would be for a Standard room. Or will they force us to check out and change rooms?

From what I recall they are not allowing one night stays at the current moment. Are you going to do parks Sunday or no? If you aren’t going to do parks Sunday it might be better to go to the Hyatt at the airport.

Not sure about changing rooms but I don't think they are allowing 1 night stays, so its best to call and see if they can add the night onto your reservation!

If you are able to book that 1-night reservation, I would grab it. Then you can 1) try to get it combined with your existing reservation, or 2) have both reservations noted as "continuing" with the other reservation number. WDW would prefer not to move you, but there is no guarantee. Just remind them again when you check-in.

There was not any reservations for my resort when I was trying to add a day. I spoke to a cast member online and they added a day without issue. Linked to my reservation where it shows a continuous stay.

As long as the room is the same category, there is almost no chance they’ll make you move. You may have to check in again for the single night, but since it’s all online, shouldn’t be an issue either. There is no way hotel management will want you to move to a clean room & then clean your old room for someone else. Much easier & more efficient for them to just leave you there.

As PP said, you can call & ask for the 2 reservations to be combined or at least linked as continuing reservations. If you don’t get to do that, just stop at the front desk when you are checking in for the first reservation. Let them know about the 1 night reservation & discuss staying in the same room. They should be able to let you know if you can & if you’ll need to check in a second time. We have had stays like that because of discount availability & been told at the first check in that everything was all set for the 1 night stay in the same room & we didn’t have to check in a 2nd time.

A small hijack about a room Q. Is it worth a call for a confirmed reservation which is now on a further discount.. fla res? I was on hold 37 minutes and had to hang up, tried online but it says not available.
its a costly difference. I’m actually debating whether to cancel the whole visit if I can’t get the discount as it seems so ridiculous that my (week) booked room costs 25percent less for another resident.
worth another call ( or if online says none that’s it?) and apparently a long hold time? Best Time suggestion?

So you’re seeing availability online but when you try to change, it won’t let you? If you don’t want to call or have too long is a wait, try making a new reservation & then cancel the old, as long as you’re working the cancellation time frame. Of course, you’ll need a new deposit, but your old deposit will be refunded, so should be a wash in your credit card statement. If you don’t want to put out a new deposit, you will have to call. And only you can say if the amount saved is worth the time it will take you to get it applied.

Last year a trip went sideways and we had 5 separate reservations for 2 stays. There were 3 broken stays at poly and 2 at OKW - same room type - just have to have them note that it's a continuing reservation.

I had to do a piece-meal trip recently using two different memberships. When I physically checked in, I explained it was a little complicated and she was able to piece it together using the two memberships PLUS two days from points transferred in by a totally different member.. We stayed in same room. THOUGH, two of the 8 days were standard rooms (BWV) instead of Garden View and we, of course, had to change rooms for that.

Otherwise, they are very used to piece-meal reservations. They know the DVC situation where post-Covid, everyone is using up their points and you have to grab literally a night at a time.

Online says same room type not available. It’d Still be less expensive to upgrade the room type with the new discount but I can’t seem to do that online.
just frustrating lol. I’m seriously teetering on canceling I’ve waited this long since COVID hit.
thx!

If you can see the discount available online, but it isn't allowing you to modify, I would definitely call and ask for help. I find the best time to call is exactly at 7:00 am when the phone lines open or later at night around 9:00 pm or so.

I ended up calling.. they couldn't add the 1 day to my existing reservation, but they booked it as it's own "package" and put a note that it's a continuing reservation. They added 1 extra park day to my existing package. She said it wouldn't make a difference and won't impact my stay in any way.

Typically there are only a set number of rooms allowed to book at any specific discount. Do you actually see availability for the other room type? If so, go ahead and book it then cancel your current reservation. If you are simply doing out the math to calculate what the discount could be, there may not be rooms available at your resort.

Thx all. The same room type is Not available. The upgraded room type Is available , costs less but I’m unable to do online. Sorry if I was Unclear. Appreciate the help and suggestion. If I move to a later week ( in Jan) both seem to be available… but I think it’s actually busier time at the parks.
I’ll make a decision this weekend perhaps move to the third Jan week or cancel and just rebook for another time.
I was following Disney with a few days at Universal ( first visit) so the scheduling is getting a bit overwhelming, lol

… and SURPRISE, 3 separate family groups just decided to surprise us with holiday visits South ( which Is wonderful!!)
but that planning atop everything else is making my head spin, lol. .
All good news but a crazy timing situation.
enjoy the day/weekend Everyone.
