DD4(turning 5 on the cruise) and I will be taking our first cruise in May, a 3 day. I am thinking of doing the Adastra Gardens excursion. Has anyone done it? Is it good for children? I can't decide whether we should stay on the ship since we're only doing a 3 day or if we should get off. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

We went to Ardastra Gardens on our last cruise. We loved it!! We didn't book through Disney...just went on our own. The taxi was $4 per person. The zoo was great! I got some wonderful pictures! I would recommend going! :)

We went in 8/04. I loved it. My 8 year old got a little freaked out trying to feed the parrots but other kids were loving it. It was so cool because you got to see animals that you wont' see anywhere else. One word of advice, when you take pictures, write down the name of the animals because when you get home you won't remember!

Personally, on the 3 day, I would stay on board. That morning will have fewer kids in the Mickey pool than usual (it is usually packed) because several people will leave the ship. There is so much to do onboard and to enjoy, you won't be bored.

The 3 day goes by SO fast and the day in Nassau is the only day to just relax and enjoy the ship.

Anyway, just thought I would put that out there. On our first cruise we went into Nassau also. Just seemed like we were suppose to. But since then (we have done 6 cruises) we stay onboard, and that will be the plan for in the future (at least until the kids are teenagers and don't want to stay onboard to do 'kid' things).

Ardastra Gardens is a low key, friendly kind of experience. We took a taxi and enjoyed the whole thing. The marching flamingos were entertaining, and the stroll around the zoo is fun. Don't expect a state of the art zoo, but for little kids or easy-to-amuse adults (like us), its a good-to-do-one-time trip. Just be prepared to have someone call you a cab to get back (we had to wait about 10 minutes for a cab to get there - not a problem).

Thanks for all the replies. Adastra sounds great. I'm still undecided on whether we should just stay on the ship or not though.
