We have been to Lancaster often. Our usual trip includes Dutch Wonderland, the outlets and Good 'N Plenty for dinner. We have decided to take a girls (ages 7-9) trip for a day. I would like to have the girls see something other than just outlets. I think the Amish way of life would interest them. I looked on the Lancaster website but it is hard to tell what they would really enjoy. Does anyone have experience with any farms, etc that the girls would enjoy.
TIA!

We have amish down the road from us, so we dont do any of the amish farm tours there, but some things we do love are

the Strasburg Railroad
the Sight and Sound Theater, worth every penny you spend, totally a broadway level theater
The Krieder Farms Tour, it is a very large dairy farm and a lot of fun to do

also try Lapps Resturant, it is totally our favorite

any questions ask.

Hey, welcome to my back yard! Strausburg is tons of fun. This one might sound silly, but DS loves "That Fish Place, That Pet Place". It's off Rte 30 if you take the Centerville Road exit. They have a HUGE fish room and a touch tank for little ones. Also, look up the Hands on House. They have a lot of activities throughout the year. Bird-in-Hand is a little further out, but is a great place for Amish tours, buggy rides and crafts. Hope this helps!

My DD (who will be 10 next month) was totally captivated by the Amish way of life when we went to Lancaster in August.

I would reccommend Aaron & Jessica's buggy rides:

We all loved it. Our young driver (who was formerly Amish) was very interesting and funny. We also stopped at an Amish farm where little Amish girls were selling bottled water, homemade cookies and pretzels.

We all really enjoyed The Amish Village too:

Maybe not all in Lancaster, b/c its been a while since I did these, but we camped in Lancaster area one year and did a full week of stuff. Try looking into:

Buggy Rides -I think my mom used Abe's, but I have heard of Aaron & Jessica's too. I am sure they are all fine.
Sturgis Pretzel Co.
Wilbur Chocolate Co.
Green Dragon Market
Shady Maple Smorgasborg (Morgantown)

Also the Renaissance Fair is out that way too, but I think it's only weekends?

Hope this helps! Have Fun!

Our family goes to Lancaster each October to
the AMazing Corn Maize at Cherry Crest Farms.
It is so much fun. The Maize is enormous, it
usually takes us 2 hours to find all of the clues
to tape on to our map. The kids love it.
If you google they have their own website.
There are many other activities there other than
the maize.

We are heading to this area on Saturday and looking for a good but budget lunch recommendation for a family of 5.

Go to Lapp's right across from dutch wonderland, it is our favorite. Our other favorite is Issac's Deli there are several locations

The Corn Maize is so cool! Also, when I was about that age we did the pretzel factory tour, where you get to make your own pretzels. I thought that was fun!
