Activities at OKW?

I was wondering about weekly activities at OKW. Members' updates once a week, right? Goofy Bingo-when, anyone ever done that, how and what is it? Some landscaping tour-any info? What other activities might there be when we go (Memorial Day week)? Any info about them?

This is my list from June of 2002:

--Fishin' Cruise, ages 5 and up. $18 for members, $20 for guests. Box lunch included.

--Tiny-tot Tea Party, ages 4 and under

--Open Crafts, all ages

--Volleyball Game, all ages

--Make Your Own Flubber, all ages

--Woodsie Fish (no description), all ages, $4 members, $5 guests

--Tie-dye T-shirts, all ages, $10 members, $12 guests

--Unbirthday Party, ages 5-10

--Pine Cone Bird Feeders, all ages

--Pool Games

--Family Scavenger Hunt, all ages

--Children's Hand Impressions, all ages, $10 members, $12 guests

--Disney Favorite Film, all ages

--Face Painting, all ages

--Monsters, Inc. Computer Game Tournament, ages 5-12

--Storybook Time, all ages (8pm, "Put on your pajamas and join us in Papa's Den to hear your favorite")

--Sandcastle Building, all ages

--Pinwheels, all ages, $4 members, $5 guests

--Goofy Bingo, all ages

--Landscaping Tour, all ages

Those not mentioning fees are free. Some require registration and have a limit to the number of guests allowed to participate. Times and days vary.

The offerings in January of this year were just a little different. There was "Squish Art," "Create Your Own Autograph Book" and "Open Basketball Skills Game" along with many of the same activities offered in June.

Sorry I don't have much in the way of details. The landscaping tour was offered on Wednesdays at 9am.

My family played Goofy Bingo in Februrary when we went. We were the only family there but it was fun.

They gave you cards with Characters in the squares and you marked the characters with chips when they were called.
There was only the four of us playing and the prizes were little plastic toys.

Play ping pong was fun too. I can't wait to go back in April.

Thanks, cindy_k. I'd love to play Goofy Bingo but I was concerned about being the only adult there. DH won't go with me, and DSs are both in college and make fun of the thought. It sounds like so much fun to me, as well as making the Pine Cone Bird Feeders, the scavenger hunt, and the landscaping tour. Are solo adults "out of place" on these family tours (Except landscaping tour, I'd probably be OK there)?

They used to have great prizes at Goofy Bingo. I won a half hour pontoon boat rental.

I have been a member since 95 and never heard of any of these things before. Where do you find out about all these things? I am shocked to tell you the truth!!

Sounds like a great list of activities. Maybe I would have enjoyed OKW more with some these....but no place I read are they listed (and I do read that whole thing they give you).

Where did you get this info and are the others DVC's similiar? We did a small craft at BWV last trip but that was all they offered as I recall.

I'm not sure, but I got the impression that the prizes weren't great because it was only the 4 of us playing. Maybe if more people had come the prizes would have been better. *shrug*

It was fun to do anyway. Especially since I won the most. We played about 5 games.

Weird! They gave us a calendar with all the activities listed on it when we checked in. That's how we knew when bingo was. They had tours and all kinds of stuff listed on the calendar.

We found OKW a great relaxing resort.

Guess What!! I just got out my packet I had from our last visit in January and sure enough on the back of the resort map are listed all these different things to do. Like I said before I have been a member since 95 and never saw this before. It looks like fun but I have to wonder a little why people travel all the way to WDW to do these kinds of activities when you have the parks etc. Having said that I must confess that I have gone to a movie or two down there. I guess the reason I never really saw these things is that I never really cared about these type of things. I have no explanation why after nearly nine years and over 20 visits that this is the first I have seen this.

Pa@OKW, I'm glad that you found the information. It's always been given to us when we checked in.

Now that our kids are much older, we tend to spend our time in the parks. When they were younger, it was great to plan shorter days and include resort activities. They especially loved the Unbirthday Party.

Is OKW the only resort taht does this? We are newbies and are planning our first trip home in Jan next year at BCV's. Do they do these things as well??

Unfortunately BCV doesn't have activities, and while there are some activities at WL, there are none specifically for VWL. I'm not sure, but I think BWV have a few. And HH has by far the most activities available. I think at WDW, the reason OKW and (I think) BWV do, but not the other 2, is because they both have a community hall, whereas VWL and BCV don't. ALso, there are weekly member updates at BWV and OKW, but not at BCV or VWL for that same reason-not having a community hall (at least that's what my guide told me-honestly, I don't know why they don't have a weekly members update at the Iron Spike room. Or do more people than that holds attend every week?)

Wow! We are staying at OKW in September and I didn't know there would be all of these 'fun' things to do. We just stayed at HH for 2 nights and missed the Unbirthday Party and Goofy Bingo because they weren't offered on the days we were there.

Does OKW have a 'regular' schedule of activities on certain days? When do they have the Unbirthday party and the Goofy Bingo there?

I dragged my best friend (2 mature women) to Goofy Bingo at HH and we were the only adults without kids! We had a ball and when my friend won we told a 2 year old girl at our table that she had won (with her dad's permission). She shared her goody bag with everyone at the table.
We also took the Landscaping Tpur in a drizzle and loved it. We were the only 2 on the tour at the time so it was 'private'. We were able to ask lots of questions and get lots of info and tips.
My advice is to go for it. Except for the Unbirthday party which is restricted to the very young the CMs don't mind an enthusiastic adult.
The Member updates are Tuesday at OKW and Thursday at BWV.
We attended both when we were at VWV 2 weeks ago.
Go for it
