When staying at a DVC Villa, are you permitted to participate in activities held in the community halls at resorts other than the one at which you are staying?

I've (so!) enjoyed reading BroganMc's trip reports, and loved hearing about the ceramics at SSR.

I'm sending my niece to WLV in May for her honeymoon... and they aren't going to have a lot of $$ to spend.

TIA!

We've Community Hall hopped a few times... (Usually when we pool hop, and we make a day of it..)

A few year ago, we hopped over to SSR's CH to check it out... They had no problems with us there...

Last year, we took it one step further... DS wanted to see his "buddy" Eddie (the CM) at OKW's CH... We called ahead to the resort and found out Eddie was working in the hall, they even told us what hours he was working and invited us right over...

When we got to OKW, Eddie was awesome... He hadn't seen DS in over a year, but the two of hung out playing foosball, playing checkers, and etc... Eddie even pushed him in the pool a few times..

I want a job working at a CH. The staff have so much fun there. They're like camp counselors. One working SSR's CH is even named Sundee. How cool is that?

Thanks for the responses, guys.

BroganMc - lovin' your trip report!!!

Am interested to hear if anyone has done the flower arranging at SSR on Wednesday. I would think this was at the CH. I am considering it for our Sept trip but would like to hear what others exxperiences have been.

how cool is that? My mother is always saying how she wants to work in a flower shop when she retires. She would love that! I'm hoping when her and I go on the DVC tour this December she will get bitten by the bug and will want to buy a small SSR resale along with me!

that is so awesome! What a wonderful cast member! :thumbsup2

Beth, I've done the ceramics at SSR. It's really neat and fun. They do charge a small fee and you have to be able to pick it up a few days after.
And it doesn't matter which resort you're staying at :thumbsup2

When you are using a CH, does everyone need to be a DVC member? i.e. if I am traveling with my sisters and/or niece & nephews, can they also use the CH since they will be staying at the resort with me a DVC member?

Your guests can use Community Hall too!

As long as the CH isn't at capacity, I think pretty much anyone can use them provided they are staying somewhere on WDW property... (I don't believe I've ever seen any rules restricting use..) We've even used the BWV CH once while we were staying in a FW Cabin... I talked with the CM's about it and they didn't mind in the least that we there...

If for some reason though, there is a limited amount of crafts or supplies they may say something... I've just never run across that situation...

Usually (for some of the activites), the CH's will have one price for DVC members and one price for everyone else... Most likely your family members staying with you will have "DVC Member" printed on their keys, and so will get the discounted prices.

Thanks! Now all I need to do is wait for the CH at AKV to open with Kidani.

Ok, we've been DVC members for about 4 years now and have never done a CH event. Do all DVC's have CH's? We've only ever stayed at BCV's and I don't remember seeing any kind of ceramics or flower arranging classes.

Fast forward to this coming up August, we are staying at OKW. Do they have a Community Hall? Can ya'll fill me in on what they do there?

Thanks!

Yes OKW has a CH. SSR and BWV also have them.

OKW activities are scheduled and they do things like air hockey tournaments, board games, and towel animals. I recall most of their activities end around 3pm.

BWV also has scheduled activities, but it is a little less structured over there. I did not find the staff all that interactive at BWV.

SSR CH stays open til 10 pm every day and their last activity is normally around 8pm. Later on Movie nights (Community Hall staff also does the dive in movies)

BCV has a recreation staff and they have added quite a few activities in the last year such as the campfire sing alongs and movies on the beach. They do not have a CH but will do activities in the common areas.

Each CH has a schedule of activities that you will receive at check in or can pick up at CH.

I am glad that AKV and CRV both have Community Hall's planned. My boys really enjoy them and prefer the resorts with them. When we stayed at AKV they were really disappointed that the CH was not ready yet.

I would agree... If I had to rank the CH's I'd say
1) OKW
2) VB
3) HHI
4) SSR
5) BWV
6) BCV Activities

We're actually going to OKW this year primarily because of the CH... We've got lots of kids going on this trip, and the kids love the activities...
