I happened to see on Mousesavers that in 2008, that you get charged by the night. So if say you check in on Dec. 18th, you only get the 18th at the value rate, then the rest of your stay is at the holiday rates. I didn't remember seeing anyone on here talking that out (unless I missed that discussion). Anyone know if it's really true?

I believe it is true. We went over MLK weekend last month. Two nights at the Poly were value season rates ($340 for GV) and two nights were some MLK weekend holiday rate ($360 for GV).

I guess Disney decided to price out their rooms like every other hotel in the world! Oh well :confused3

This policy changed occurred either for 2006 or the 2007 season...I forget which:confused3

unless I did something wrong. We have different rates throughout our stay which includes 4th of July and two Saturdays.

Yep, you must've missed that discussion. New guidelines for 2008. Each day is priced separately. Higher rates for weekends, higher rates for holidays. Lots of blackouts for holidays (we saw MLK blackedout this year). During January I had an AP rate of $69 a night at Pop for a Saturday night (rack = $82), but Sunday to Thursday that rate was only $49. Hold on to your hat, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Check the dis home page, I think they have a good breakdown of the individual rates, resorts, and holidays. (wdwinfo.com)

They put it in last fall. There was a lot of discussion about it here for Christmas 2007.

Yes, this is true. This was the reason we went last Christmas, was the change. For us the prices will be too much over the holidays from now on. We received rack throughout our stay but had to check in on the 19th.I saved over $300 checking in on the 19 compared to checking in on the 22nd.When you tried to apply a discount thats when Disney went to day to day pricing and enforcing black-outs for the rest of 07. So sorry you missed all the :scared1:, it was awful there for awhile. It is really a shocker after all of these years. I have noticed some of the seasons have still been pricing at one rate for the whole week.

We have checked into a Disney Resort on 19th Dec for the last 2 years (FW in 06 and SSR in 07) Also had 30% code and 40% so got the value rate at a great price for all 8 nights. I couldn't believe it when I heard that we would now have to pay holiday rate. Last year we paid $2900 for 1 bed at SSR with DDP and 1 day base ticket. This year the price is $7000. (Also no code). Now I love SSR but not enough to pay $7000, and that wasn't even the most expensive resort. Even at 2 dollars to the pound I think its really expensive. Do you think people will really pay those sorts of prices for a week at Xmas? We spend 3 weeks there in December every year and usually stay off site for the first 2 weeks and then at Disney for the last week to make the most of the resort. This year we have opted to stay the whole time at Bonnet Creek. $120 a night up to 19th and then $240 until 27th for a 2 bed. This will cost a fraction of what Disney want. I am of course hoping that people refuse to pay these rates and Disney drop the price as I would still really love to be at SSR again this year.

Thanks for all the quick replies! I was going to call to book today, and sure enough, holiday rates. The silver lining to that lovely plan we had was that we have a 40% pin, so we can still go, as long as it's a week earlier.
