Codes on cards saying expires on September 30, 2006 have been extended and will work tomorrow.

Your choice whether to believe or not, but that's what was said.

I hope you are right, because 2 different CMs at the VMK spot in Innoventions told me the opposite on Friday night. They said that "some might not" expire right away, but some will for sure (50th, especially) and to be safe, we should enter them all by today.

I guess we will know tomorrow. They did not say extended indefinitely, they said, "extended."

Shows for much they know! The codes from the three 50th quest cards do not expire for another year. However. it is very likely that the 50th Quest will end, so no more codes will be available.

The newest card that expires is the Gold Door (series 2, 18/30). Every card from the Thrill Seekers Quest Pin (series 2, 19/30) onward expires in a year.

50th, Thrillseekers and High School Musical QUESTS are all SUPPOSED to expire today. I just checked and the PDFs are still on the VMK website. Guess we'll have to wait and see if they still accept them Sunday.

The QUESTS are supposed to expire, but so was the Tomorrowland Quest over 9 months ago. However the codes from the cards for the 50th, Thrillseekers, and High School Musical quests do not expire till September 30, 2007 (according to the cards).

I just looked at my cards and that is quite true. I don't know if the CM who told me to enter those right away didn't know what she was talking about, or maybe I asked the question poorly, or making I was mixing and matching questions in my head (will the codes expire vs. will the quests go away).

Her bad. Or my bad. Either way, those 50th cards have codes that will work for another year. HSM, thrillseeker and pirate fortress, too.

The one thing I remember clearly is that the VMK booth employees seem rather certain that the 50th quest is going bye-bye after tomorrow, and that a Halloween quest is coming very, very soon. They also hinted that the other quests could see something new and fresh soon, but they "can't say" what or when. When we asked if "can't" meant "don't know" or "know but won't say" they just said "can't say" again.

what about HM Room?
Since it only came from a code on a series 1, 6/30 card it is supposed to expire September 30, 2006. Whether it does or not is still to be seen.

However trading for an old code just got more difficult, since you will not know if it will work till it is entered. This includes items that can not be traded, like:
Haunted Mansion room
Tent room
credits from series 1, 29/30
VIP badge
Pirate Prison room

Well it's departure was not so subtlely hinted at on the VMK site also. I think in the newsletter somewhere.

The part that seems somewhat strange to me is that nothing has been hinted at about the Thrill Seeker's Quest. That quest was the WDW equivalent (OK, not so equal) to the DLR 50th Quest.

When expired cards first came up the initial response was that cards that were still given out would not expire. The Tent room is given out as part of the Prize Pack for completing 3 quests at DLR. There are 10 cards in the pack, other 9 cards are Pink Nemo chair, Cactus Chair, Castle Retro pin, Gorilla Poster, Rhino Poster, Safari Lifestyle Poster, BTMR Teleporter, Hippo rug and Safari Carpet.

Also, when you go to the actual print-out for the 50th Quest all of the answers are given and have "Free Question" typed over each one. When I was there about a week ago, I turned that in and the guy started laughing because he couldn't believe they'd started doing that. It makes sense though, since some of the questions are for 50th decorations and those are pretty much gone now. They probably put "Free Question" across all of them (even the ones that weren't involving 50th decorations) to clear out the stock of the leftover cards quickly. The CM who was there said that it shouldn't be there much longer, so I would assume that after today (or very soon after today) it'll be gone.

He also said the buyables should be staying, except the gold ears are likely to go. Given that it's connected to the 50th.

Who knows anymore? They should make a staff newsletter about VMK or something, just so they all have their stories straight.

Whoa! I dd not mean this to create more confusion. There are 2 separate issues here:

- The quests ending
- The codes on cards expiring

My original post was strictly in regards to the looming expiration date that is on the majority of everyone's cards: September 30, 2006

Expiring Codes on Cards
According to the staff at VMK Central, the codes that are printed on cards that have September 30, 2006 (which include many cards that are still being handed out today) have been extended. Nothing was said as to how long, but simply that they will be valid after 9-30-2006.

Quests Ending
The second issue (which I was not addressing but has come up in subsequent posts above) is that of quests ending. The 50th Quest is scheduled to end as of October 1st, since the 50th Celebration is official over. :(

As for the last issue of confusion regarding dates -
The 50th quest cards...
I have a set of 50th quest cards from a while back that have a printed expiration date of September 30, 2006. The cards that my friends received today (9/30/06) have 2007. So clearly somewhere along the line a second run of cards for the 50th were printed.

Incidently, the cards that they received today for the Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Adventureland, and Fanstasyland quest (as well as bonus cards) ALL had 9/30/2006 as their expiration dates. This seemed to support the "extended" codes information as it would be highly unlikely that they would hand out cards that would expire within mere hours.

However, we will only truly know when the kingdom opens in the morning.

I was at vmk central this am and they were still handing out the cards that said expire sept 30, 2006.

but what about the 50th quest were the still accepting the papers to get the cards and high school musical or what? i'm supposed to go tomorrow.....

I was at DLR yesterday (10/01) and here are some things I learned about the cards:

1st stop: Main Street Mad Hatter
Bought two hats. Asked for VMK Cards and girl said she wasn't sure if they still had them. She looked in drawers, found some Gold Ear cards, and handed some (6) to me saying she wasn't sure if they would work since they were expired. My girlfriend got ears too. All the cards we got were entered in park and all worked.

2nd stop: Main Street Magic Shop
CM Terria (sp?) said they took the Magic Mirrors away on Saturday 09/30 and they won't be coming back. She's heard something else was in the works to replace them, but she didn't know (or wouldn't tell?) me what. Note that I go to DLR about once a month, Terria has been the CM in that shop nearly every time I go. She seems to know what she's talking about.

3rd stop: VMK Central
CM said they are still giving out all the old quest cards, nothing has changed. He specifically said Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland. Didn't specifcally comment on 50th Quest, and come to think of it, I didn't remember to ask. My AP was good to let me get the Frontierland quest, so I got those cards.

4th stop: Innoventions
All the cards we got were entered there in Innoventions and they all worked. We talked to a CM. He said that all 50th stuff is over as of Saturday 09/30, but even though VMK was part of 50th budget, new budget was started 10/01 and VMK is approved funds through that. Said they received an e-mail and Magic Mirrors and Gold Ears not to be handed out anymore (so CM at hat shop earlier did no-no). Said codes will continue to work on already handed out stuff, but doesn't know for how long. He says he's heard from Yavin and co that they are working on a DLR only Halloween Quest, but couldn't (wouldn't?) tell me more.

5th stop: Buzz Lightyear Pin Shop
I purchased a pin, got an "expired" Happiest Celebration on Earth VMK pin card. It worked later at home. Shop was busy, I didn't have time to query CM about this or other cards.

6th stop: Pooh Candy Shop
CM said they had VMK cards, but line was very long and they didn't have the cheap $0.59 suckers - I have plenty of Red Candy presses, didn't feel like eating any more expensive candy, and the line was too long. Didn't actually get a card here.

7th stop: DCA Animation Show
We went to show and each got Desk card, so no problems there.
