According to Chase: No More Booking Disney ANYTHING with Ultimate Rewards Points

I just called the Chase Cruise and Vacation Line to get some information in anticipation of booking a Disney Cruise this week. I got all the way to the contracted travel agent, who told me that as of two weeks ago they were told they can no longer book ANYTHING at all Disney. So no cruises, no hotels, nothing. She said I should have recieved a communication from Chase about the change. I don't remember seeing anything from Chase about this and it's really throwing a monkey wrench into my plans. Has anyone else seen anything about it? If anyone knows of a work around (other than cashing out) I'd be grateful to hear it!

I haven't received any notification from them. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to check it out.

Crap, I've been thinking about using some points for a couple nights at Aulani. We are going to Hawaii for 10 nights and every other hotel I have gotten using points with Marriott, and I hate to pay $1400 just for those 2 nights at Aulani. I guess I will have to find another way...

It seems Chase and Disney have a new Disney travel card in the works, and I think they're trying to make it and the Disney Rewards program as appealing as possible.

Is that the rumor based off a survey sent out? Because that’s the only place I’ve heard that rumor and Chase surveys people about tons of stuff that never happens. It’s well known people are redeeming points fast than expected and it’s hit Chase bottom line to the point it was mentioned in their earnings, cutting the Disney bookings could have been an entirely monetary call.

OP, the person working for Connexions under contract for Chase has no idea what notifications Chase does or doesn’t send out. You didn’t miss anything because Chase never sent out a communication to the general public, they did this as silently as possible- thief in the night style. Chase has refused to publicly comment to bloggers on removing Disney booking capabilities from UR portals beyond the usual PR type crap- “We apologize for any inconvenience. Your feedback is important to us.”

Practically speaking if you have UR points on a booking Chase Cruise & Travel is already holding I would seriously consider applying those points ASAP. I believe you only get one shot at applying points though so you will have to weigh that against the potential risk that these new changes bring.

I just heard this on Facebook this morning. I never got communication from Chase. Maybe it’s time for me to switch to the Southwest card.

I have never received any notice either. Can we still use the reward points to buy park tickets? Can we still use the rewards put on a reward card at the parks? I have $110 left on my rewards card I was planning on using at Epcot next year!

I am not familiar with the ultimate rewards points so I am sorry for jumping in here but I wanted to suggest if you are concerned about rewards as in the Disney Visa type...you can put them on the redemption card then order gift cards with the redemption card. The gift cards never expire and never reduce in value. When you check out online they do ask you for a back up credit card in case your purchase amount exceeds your redemption amount so don't panic when they ask you for both. They will definitely use the redemption card as payment with no problem. Gift cards are no shipping charge too so in my opinion it is a good safe guard. I have lots of gift cards at my house just waiting for our next trip. Eventually I am thinking I will probably consolidate them on the website but for now I just like going to them every once in awhile and adding up how much I have! Just an idea. Technically I don't really have to do it anymore, I started this back when the redemption cards expired and I wanted to make sure I didn't lose anything but now with these potential concerns it might be a feasible option for your peace of mind?!

This is a great idea. Thanks so much!

I think the OP may be talking about a different chase card, not disney Visa. There is another card where you can purchase all kinds of vacations with points- or used to be able to.

Thank you. I was wondering how I missed that. Good to know I didn't.

I'm planning on calling later to voice my unhappyness with this decision. The only way it's going to change is if enough people complain or cancel their cards over it. I opened a CSR card specifically to use for 1.5 cent per point redemptions. I'm not sure I can justify that annual fee if I can't book the vacations (Disney) I want. I'm thinking of switching to a US Bank FlexPerks Card or Barclay Arrival Card.

Completely agree, I wrote in my complaint.

If you want any help deciding on another card hop on over to the I Love Credit Cards thread on the budget board https://www.disboards.com/threads/i-love-credit-cards-so-much.3528202/ Skip to the last page (seriously it's super long and info changes so fast skip to the last page for sure!) and ask any questions you may have on determining the best cc for your situation, they're a friendly bunch that can help you see stuff you might have missed :)

This!

The OP is talking about the Ultimate Rewards family here. Ultimate Rewards are the points earned from Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, Sapphire, Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, Ink Unlimited, Ink Cash and Ink Preferred Cards. Purchasing anything Disney is no longer possible using URs.

The Disney no-annual fee and Disney Premier are not affected by this as they are not part of the Ultimate Rewards program. Your Disney Rewards are 100% safe :)

Yes, I'm basing it on the survey that I took a couple weeks ago. Maybe it's nothing, but it seemed awfully coincidental to me that at the same time that Disney bookings are no longer available with UR, Chase sends out a survey hinting at a new "Disney travel card". And it makes sense to me that if both Disney and Chase stand to benefit from no longer allowing Disney bookings through UR, that they'd try to push this new card. It just seems possible that they're related. And maybe the card never comes to be, but the fact that they're kicking around the idea and seeing how people react to the idea tells me that survey about the possible new card is somehow linked to the change in being able to book Disney with UR.

Hey - anybody who was following this - we're trying to start a twitter campaign to bring this to Chase and Disney's attention that we want our Disney fix back!

https://twitter.com/SouthFayetteFan/status/1097589793675010048

I just tweeted the following (in 2 tweets)
@Chase @ChaseSupport @DisneyParks @WaltDisneyWorld @Expedia #UltimateRewards #NotUltimateRewards #ChaseHatesDisney Why no Disney resorts on your Chase Travel Portal? I thought these were "ULTIMATE" rewards... #UltimateRewards #NotUltimateRewards #ChaseHatesDisney 1 of 2

To me Disney World is my Ultimate Travel goal - I wish I was told you were going to remove all 25 of the Walt Disney World resort hotels before I earned all of these points. #FreeDisneyResorts #ChaseHatesDisney #FixUltimateRewardsPlease I just want to take my girls to Disney!

If you'd be so kind - let's re-tweet this, do your own new tweets, use some of the hashtags, create your own. Like I said it probably won't do anything, but let's at least make sure Chase and Disney know that something is missing here! I did leave Disney Cruise's out (not intentionally) so if somebody wants to start a tweet on that I'll retweet it and blast it everywhere!
