Help! I previously used ECVs on trips to WDW eventually buying my own used scooter from Buena Vista. But I tried to do a DCL cruise without an aid, just my canes. It was the most miserable trip for me. This time I am going to cruise with a power wheelchair. I bought a Ranger Maestro which I'm practicing with because they are way more difficult to drive than an ECV! What I discovered in transferring from MCO to AKV yesterday is that the Mercedes sprinter vans are way too high for me to step up and get in and out safely. It was torture and two people helping me to get in. I am supposed to be taking a normal Mears bus back to MCO in two weeks and now I'm in a panic because my MIL said there were 5 stairs to get up to the seating area on the bus and they were very difficult for her. She is in better shape than I am!
So, are there any accessible rides I can book from WDW back to MCO where the vehicle is lower (like a minivan or SUV) or that I could remain in my chair? That would be even better. I'm sure there must be because many people aren't ambulatory at all away from their chair. I can walk short distances with two canes for balance/support. Stairs are my real issue.
Who do you recommend for an accessible ride back to MCO?
