Access to pools, beach house at HH before check in?

I recently asked about early check-in to a GV at HH. It appears that early check-in is not likely. Will I have access to the pools and beach house on check-in day before the room is actually ready? We will probably be on the Island by 11:00am on the day of check-in. Thanks for any help or advice.

Yes, you'll have access to everything. They way it worked for us a few weeks ago is that we checked in at the front desk at 8:30a when we arrived (drove down from Ohio the day before and stayed that night about a half hour away) and were given our cards...our villa wasnt available, but we were able to use the pools, go to the beach house, rent a bike, receive the weekly schedule of events and sign up, etc. We then called the number they gave us to check on the status of the villa, and when it was ready they gave us the villa number and we moved in (around 3-4pm).

So, you can (and should) check-in at Live oak Lodge, but you can't get into your villa (and they won't give you the villa number) until it is ready.

Great post-- I was wondering the same thing for our upcoming HHI stay! Does anyone know if the beach house has changing rooms, bathrooms, or showers? Just trying to figure out logistics if we can't access our villa before hitting the beach.

Yes, the Beach House has bathrooms with showers. There is also an airconditioned area there - Surfmen's Station.

We felt we got an extra days vacation by doing this very thing this past week. We drove the 12 hours down to HHI on Sat. and stayed overnight at the local Hampton Inn. The next morning we checked into Disney around 9:00 am and knew that our villa would probably not be ready which it wasn't. But we took off for the beach house and changed into our bathing suits and headed out to the beach for a great morning. We ate lunch at Signals and then used the beach house pool before calling around 2:00 to see if our villa was ready and it was. There were quite a few other people checking in also at 9:00 am Sunday.

You never know, I checked in on a Sunday for a GV at 11 AM and it was ready. It was our first trip to HH.

If your check-in day is Sun. you do have a chance. We have had a GV for the past 6 years. Five out of six the GV was ready at noon - 1:00 when we arrived after staying overnight in Columbia. We are from Ohio too and find Columbia to be a great stopping point. DH figures that it costs so many points for a Saturday GV stay that they often go begging and are therefore ready for Sunday check-ins early. The one year we did not get in early , they must have had "issues" because it was after 5:00 before we were in.

We do the EXACT same thing every year too-- in fact, we're checking in at the Hampton Bluffton this Saturday night and will be checking in at Disney by 8:30am. Last year I think we checked in around 10am and our 2 bedroom was ready.
