access to fitness facility for a child

My daughter had surgery several months ago and requires specific daily exercises as ordered by her physical therapist. Is there a chance that I could, with a note, get her into the gym? has anyone had any luck with an accommodation like that?

Maybe check with the special needs department? Maybe they could help set that up.

How old is your child? The issue with equipment is the fact it is in an adults only area and has scheduled activities. Their insurance may not cover under a certain age. I know the teens only get to go during a specific time.

her age will prevent her from being allowed in the gym, are there some exercises that she might be able to do on deck 4?

In addition to reaching out to the special needs group you may talk to your daughters physical therapist about alternate exercises for your trip that don't require gym equipment. There are many PT exercises that can be done using just the weight of your body or small items like resistance bands which could be brought with. I travel extensively and it never stopped me from doing my PT post ACL reconstruction.

I second shelbelll77's suggestion to speak with the PT about alternate exercises. A good PT will be able to give her some alternative suggestions, even things she could do at home if unable to get to a gym for some odd reason. You can certainly contact the special needs department at DCL, but I have seen this question asked before and I don't recall any reports that it was ever allowed.

I remember there was a girl a few years ago training for the Olympics in gymnastics...Disney made no accommodations for her. She ended up doing workouts in their room. She was like 16 or 17 too.
