I was just on the Air Canada site and they have a seat sale ending at midnight. I put in some example dates Dec 1-7 and could pick direct flights that ended up being $367 per person after taxes ($119 each way before taxes). Don't know if that helps anybody but if you're looking for a flight before Dec 15, it doesn't hurt to take a look.

The site says:

Catch today's special fares now!

Take advantage of these special low fares only available at aircanada.com! But remember, this offer expires by midnight tonight (EST).

Hurry! Book now!

Canada:

Tickets for fares shown must be purchased by September 12, 2006.
All travel must be completed by December 15, 2006.
Fares must be purchased at least 3 days in advance.
U.S.:

Tickets for fares shown must be purchased by September 12, 2006.
All travel must be completed by December 15, 2006.
Fares must be purchased at least 7 days in advance.

Although it's a great deal for air canada.. it just doesn't seem worth it. You entered in pretty much my dates exactly and got 367 a person, but without any dings I have direct flights with southwest for just under 120 CND

Even if i stay in a fancy suite the night before in buffalo and pig out at olive garden, and do some shopping at the galleria it would still be less.

The prices and taxes on flights here in canada really suck :sad2:

sorry, just a mini vent. Downloaded the westjet version of Ding, and it's just sad because none of the prcies they show are anywhere close to the price you get after taxes..... i'm done now lol

but thanks for the heads up!

Well, the $119 per leg was good. ;) I'm just glad I don't really travel within Canada very much by plane....the taxes would really kill me then.

Some people, myself included, prefer to fly out of Canada especially in the winter. I'll fly out of Buffalo in the summer if I had to...unfortunately, I like travelling off season in the winter. :(

Gonna install the West Jet software today. :confused3 It can't hurt, eh?

Still can't beat Canadian pilots! My first pick is always Pearson....Buffalo is second choice, no matter the financial cost. I think $119 is awesome! S

Do Canuck pilots get different training from US counterparts?.. :goodvibes

If I was doing a short trip, that would be awesome for AC!

But unfortunately, my next two trips are longer! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Does anyone have any idea when or if they may have better rates for after Dec. 15th. We are watching and waiting. :surfweb: Perhaps someone recalls other years???

I was wondering that too. Not sure what makes Canadian pilots different. Southwest pilots have a great sense of humour :) We're paying about $125 CDN return for our Oct trip I cannot possible thinking of stomaching almost $800 for both of us from Toronto.

I'm waiting too. I remember we paid $130 each way on a seat sale in October (it was to Tampa) of last year for travel from Dec. 20th to Jan. 8th. But anytime near a holiday was always expensive! So I'm waiting for October and we'll see. Currently I want to travel Jan 3rd to 10th, so I'm waiting for a good sale.

If I could get a price like that out of Ottawa for next Dec, I'd probably book it. That would work out to about $1450 for the 4 of us. Still $500 more than Syracuse though.

I was happy to see the prices out of Buffalo when I started planning our trip, and then when I realized there was an Olive Garden nearby i KNEW we were flying SWA!!! :lmao:

:) Sorry I'm flying out of Toronto. But good luck to you! October is not that far away!

One other thing i noticed, without the sale from AC, it was cheaper to fly United or American with a connecting flight. Like $150 cheaper per person! But who wants to travel for 6 hours!

I did the last time I took a direct flight with A/C! Hit thunderstorm in Orlando just as we were to land and were diverted to Miami and then back to MCO!

Come to think of it, the flight previous was also a long flight! Overbooked and had to take YYZ to Newark, Newark to Orlando! Talk about the Scenic Route!

OUCH! Although my son loves connecting flights. He thinks it's way cool to ride 2 planes! :smooth:

I just got an email of flights after Dec. 15th. my Toronto to MCO which was previously at $188 each way, is now at $158 (on Tango Plus). I'm still going to try expedia first though. But thought I'd give you a heads up! :surfweb:

You are so right! What the heck is with Canadian Airlines anyway? I fly from Buffalo all the time and have saved a ton!!!!! The only time I fly from Canada is if I use my airmiles, or have to fly to of all places, Winnipeg, which is an outrageous price.

Southwest has them all beat!!!

I check 'em every day, sometimes twice;)

We got Jetblue from Portland, ME, for $99OW Dec18-Jan6

Long drive, yep, but worth the savings over the $$$ from Halifax.

HTH!
:sunny:

Not sure if there was a glitch or not, but yesterday afternoon AC was showing flights for $218 YHZ-MCO for dates in April. Checked last evening to show hubby and they were back up. Has anyone heard of this happening?
