My aunt has 4 park hopper tickets with 1 day left on each from a trip in 1997. They haven't been used since then. She gave them to me for my husband and I to use on our trip. Will we be allowed to use them since they weren't ours originally? We're willing to buy tix, but if we can get in for free we'll take it! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

You should be able to use them because there won't be any biometrics attached to them from back then. Even though they say non-transferrable there's no harm in using them IMO. Be prepared though, this could get ugly. ;)

I don't know when Animal Kingdom opened, but if it opened after the tickets were purchased, I believe they can't be used to go to Animal Kingdom. You can just use the old tickets for the other parks, and then purchase new tickets that include Animal Kingdom (if you were intending to go to the parks for more than two days). If you are only going to the parks for two days and want to go to Animal Kingdom, you can always get credit for the old tickets and then use the credit towards the purchase of new tickets.

Thanks so much. What do you mean "ugly"? Will they give us a hard time due to their age? Will they know who the original purchaser was? If so, if they ask for ID will it matter that my last name doesn't match? Thanks!!!!!

By ugly, I meant on the boards. Sometimes people can get a little outspoken about certain issues. You really shouldn't have a problem using your tickets in the parks.

They are referring to prior threads on this same topic, in which people sometimes get a bit upset regarding the differences between (and morality of) what one can likely 'get away with' vs. following the 'rules and regs' as set forth by Disney.

WDW tickets are non-transferable, and are intended for use by the original owner only. That is why the more days there are on a park pass, the less expensive the cost per day. Disney's intent is to provide incentive (via reduced admission cost per day) for people to stay and play (and hopefully spend additional $$$) longer. But, as has already been pointed out, since there were no biometrics attached to the older PH passes, it is unlikely that anyone will question you as to whether those tickets were indeed originally yours, or if you are actually using up the remaining days from someone else's tickets.

No judgments here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and must make their own decisions as to what they feel comfortable with doing.

Effective about June 2005, biometrics were added to pre-2005 tickets beginning with their next usage.

Before actually going into a theme park with an old ticket, figure out your ticket budget with and without using the old ticket. In many cases (4 to 10 day vacations) if you also need a new ticket, it is better to buy a new ticket that covers it all. (For tickets with water park fun it does not matter in what order or combination you use old or new tickets for plus admissions.)

Currently old theme park tickets are honored at Animal Kingdom but old Hopper Plus tickets are not honored at Disney Quest.
