We made all of our dinner ressies for approx 8pm. Our plan is to go to the parks in the morning, go back to hotel for a late nap/swim, then if we have time-back to a park and then 8pm dinner. Is 8pm too late? Our DD3 is pretty good about staying up. Her bedtime is anywhere from 9pm to 10pm, but when we're up later, she does fine. Also, we'll probably have later naps for her.

Does anyone have suggestions? We have also considered staying at the hotel for the mornings-then nap-then head to the park. That would save travelling back and forth.

I have no idea what the right plan is. Obviously we can adjust somewhat once we are there, but I thought I would ask all you experts what has worked for you in the past! TIA!

I don't think 8 is too late if that is what works for you, kwim? When I made our ADRs, 8 wasn't even an option, but that was fine with me because we are used to eating around 6. All our ADRs are for 6, the latest one being at 7.

You know, you might actually be on to something, staying at the resort, then napping, then going to the park, if your dd is good at napping early. My DD3 either hits it just right or its 3 or 4 pm before she is napping. But, the only thing I see that may hurt you staying at your resort in the morning is that apparently the parks are lighter in the mornings and you could be missing some great touring opportunities with less wait times and potentially miss out on all fast pass oppurtunities as well.

I will tell you what we are planning. Rising early (which is normal for us anyways) breakfast in the room and getting to planned park for opening. We have scheduled a trip back to our hotel, but if DD falls asleep in the stroller *great*. That's probably 1.5 hours travel time we just saved and me and DH will just chill while she naps. We are taking our own stroller that reclines and is soft as to help influence her napping comfortably in there.

I hope y'all have a fantastic trip!

My DD(2.5) always has trouble going down for naps when we are at a resort, she knows the parks and pool are right outside her door and she's just too hyped up. It's always been better for us to let her "take a rest" in her stroller around her normal nap time at a park, most of the time she will fall asleep for an hour or so.

But...if your DD will go to sleep at the hotel at naptime, you're plan sounds good.

My DD always took her naps in her stroller (which luckily for us she didn't mind one bit) and then at the end of the day we would come back to our room and shower and get ready for dinner. My DH really likes to eat a bit late for dinner. My DD usually goes to sleep after 10pm so before we left the room I would actually put on her PJ's and bring her lovesy/blankie with us. That way if she fell asleep in her stroller before we made it back to the room after dinner (we always like to wander around DTD after dinner so it becomes quite late) she was already in her PJ's and we just had to put her in her play-pen. This worked out pretty well for us!

I've heard that what's best is to eat at the same time you would at home. So, that sounds like it would work out for you if she's used to being up until 9 or 10pm.

My 3yo goes to bed at 8pm, so we'll be eating dinner a little earlier. lol. :)

You might want to start serving dinners at 8pm about 2 wks prior and see how things go.Maybe get her into the habit of sleeping late and staying up late, if that works for you. Remember those late seatings can go long, so you're really looking at dinner at ~8ish to 10ish, depending on when you actually get seated. so it's more likely you will be returning to your hotel at 11-12. Kinda late for little kids.

My kids were usually wiped out by 8pm. I have unpleasant memories of my then-8yo DD sitting on a curb @ 7:30, wailing because she was so tired  --she could not wait even long enough to watch the parade. We had to leave right then and she fell asleep on the bus. Missed dinner altogether. That's what comes of pushing them too much. :sad2: Learnt my lesson.
