About to put an offer on Saratoga Springs - Offer accepted at OKW

The most frustrating thing is I had made an offer on another timeshare. 100 pts at 76$ / pts. 200 pts in banks from 2012-2013. And 100 coming in December 2014.

The buyer went up to 78$. I asked for 77$ to be in between both offer. By the time we were waiting for the answer ( probably a matter of an hours max ) someone made an offer at asking price.

Understand your frustration. It's a great contract, and you missed by $100. It's time to review your "bid" strategy. Good luck with your next try.

Agreed. People put too much focus on initial PP cost. This thing will cost you tens of thousands of dollars in the end. $100 won't make a difference.

Well at certain moment you have to set a limit on everything. If not, you could always say " what is 100$ more ".

I was pushing my budget already ( initial offer for the 100 pts one was at 72 and I moved up to 77$ ). It's frustrating because I believed I would get it and someone else came in and got it. But it's part of the process.

Well that is indeed well said. The way I say it, once the 2013 and 2014 pts taken ( 100 pts that I would usually rent at 15$/pts, it's 1500$ of "saving" on this year trip ). Making BLT 4300$ starting 2015.

SSR would be around the same price ( but we need to take the 2015 pts right away )

We do want to go once every 2 years. We would probably miss points here and there ( in bay lake case, if not we would be fine with Animal Kingdom which is my second favorite resort after BLT ).

Please remember what you said here when you are making your offers. BLT is your favorite resort followed by AKV. I would look primarily at these two resorts if I were you. Buy where you like to stay. ::yes::

Right, I'm just saying I would focus more on the other variables. For instance, number of banked points, no maintenance fees till 2015, etc. Those can be worth $10 PP.

So, this story finally have an end.

I guess everything in life happen for something.

In the end, we found a third contract. It's a use year of March which is perfect for us. They had pts in bank for 2013, pts coming next month in 2014 and all points remaining. And it's a 60 pts contract instead of 50.

We are getting it for 71$ per pts.

And even if it's not at Animal Kingdom or BayLake it is still at Old Key West.
The size of the room are great there and with kids I think we will certainly appreciate the extra size. And we can always book at Animal Kingdom or Bay Lake. And I must admit I actually like that resort it remind me of the condo my grandparent used to have in Florida.

So all in all, the maintenance fee are what we wanted ( we fear 100 pts might have been to much for us in the beginning since we are getting a house next year ). We have pts for our trip this year. Pts to rent next year and all of it for a much better price of the Saratoga I was looking at in the beginning.

And who know, maybe in 5-7 years we'll buy more pts at Animal Kingdom, Polynesian or BLT when the family will be bigger.

All in all, we're happy

That is awesome I LOVE OKW! With the extra 10 points you bought and the low point costs/large rooms not to mention GREAT balconies I think you will be very happy! Enjoy :)

I visited all the DVC before... except that one. I didn't really consider it at first because of the 2042 end date.

But my wife like it, and then we started to check it and like I said it remind me of Florida when I was young. The room as HUGE, the balcony is great. If I can book the BTL, AKV, etc.. it'll be great but I certainly won't mind going to OKW !

I was about to make a new thread for this.. but since this one is going strong.

If everything go well we should have everything in hand in early april.
We were planning to go this year in Junes or July.

Anybody can tell me what we can expect ? We want a studio.. and are open to all the resort but I would LOVE to try Animal Kingdom. Which resort can we expect to have availability ?

Congrats! Glad you found another good contract quickly.

It will be tough to find a full week at any of the onsite resorts. But you could always manage to get 2-3 days in one resorts, and then switch to another. Actually it's a good thing to try different resorts during your first visit. Enjoy your membership and welcome home!

I think you should be able to book it.
A few years ago in April Disney announced they were bringing back the Main Street Electrical Parade in June and we booked OKW for a week just less than 2 months out.
We wanted a particular week and got it where you seem more flexible.
In addition, it seems this crazy winter has schools using tons of snow days so probably a lot of schools will be adding on to the school year. You could grab a cancellation.
Welcome home!

Good to know and thanks !

It weird one of the thing I can't wait is to walk in for check in and hear " welcome home " from the cast member !

Well it is now official. I have no luck whatsoever with this process.

Just got an answer from Disney and they decided to buy it back at 74$ / pts.

So now I'm back to square 1...

Wow! I'm so sorry. We have an offer in for $77 a point (160 pts) at OKW. I have seen per point prices passing much lower, but my thinking was it was the right use year, points & resort so my $77 per point might keep Disney from taking it. $74 per point seems so close to my $77. I hope Disney doesn't take it. OKW August use year seems to be scare. Unless I want a huge contract.
I hope you find another contract that fits your needs!

Sounds like both the sellers and Disney think you offers are too low and you'd be wise to up your budget a few $ per point
