About to put an offer on Saratoga Springs - Offer accepted at OKW

Ahah yeah I looked at it, but the 2042 end of the DVC vs the 2060 play a part in my decision to. Since I'm young and we opt into this for the long haul ( family trips when we'll have kids ) we wanted to get Saratoga, Old Key extended, Animal Kingdom or Bay Lake.

Gotcha! That makes perfect sense...we just purchased as well but are "older" parents so we were fine with a contract that expires earlier :goodvibes

And congratulations on your BLT contract! From your post it sounds like you haven't yet started a family, and being right there at MK will be wonderful with little ones in tow...

I actually did not think of this one but you are indeed right ! Walking with a stroller from the hotel to MK will be soooo much easier. And Epcot is only a short monorail ride away ( much better than a bus ).

Congrats! Much better deal than the $83 stripped SSR. More important, location, location, location!

Yeah it is more expensive, but considering we are able to use 100 pts right now it made senses in the end. Now we just hope Disney won't decide to refuse it, that would be a real blow since we want to go this summer.

Good luck in ROFR I am sure you will be fine! Good price great location! We own at BLT, SSR and just bought BWV resale. If it weren't for the THV we would not have bought at SSR and now they raised the cost per point to stay there so we will only use SSR for 7 month bookings since location is really huge for us! I am excited we are using SSR points to stay 4 nights at GFV in 2 weeks!

GFV look amazing ! We'll have to try it somedays. That's one of the reason DVC was interesting for us. We can have access to all those resort for the same annual price, which we think is great.

For the ROFR, Fidelity said we should be fine. So hopefully we will be !

From one Canadian to another; I really think you made the right choice. We own at BLT and absolutely LOVE the location!!! Our kids are older now but as we started them off young going to Disney, Magic Kingdom is still their favorite location. We only purchased DVC when they were well into their teens. At this age, they can easily travel to other parks or resorts on their own. Remember, not only are you on the monorail but you also have the bus depot at the Magic Kingdom where you can catch a bus to practically anywhere on Disney property.

Not only from a Canadian to another, from a Montrealer to another !

You guys really do have some amazing points, I totally forgot about the bus depot. That's one thing I always hated when we stayed at Disney. If we wanted to go eat at another hotel ( Animal Kingdom being one of my favorite ) we had to reach a park first, then take another bus. So this will be great !

I'm so excited now about this, my fear of being ROFR only grow bigger. It would be such a disappointment.

You should be fine. Just sit tight, relax, and enjoy your new purchase in 2 months. ;)

Btw, summer travel this year is already within 7 month window, so you do realize you don't have home advantage anymore, right? It's better to plan your trip asap. Maybe ask the seller to make a reservation for you now even you are still in the purchase process.

Won't they cancel any open reservations at closing?

Yes I know. We were suppose to skip Disney this year. But we realized we won't be able to go next year ( home renovation instead ). Therefore, we started to planned our trip 2 weeks ago. We were going to rent points ( never did it before ) and then I figured instead of loosing that money we should instead buy and invest it in our very own DVC.

I don't want to ask the seller to make a reservation since we if don't pass the ROFR it would be a pain to cancel that, etc. We figured we'll take whatever is left then ( hopefully BLT ). But if it's not then we'll go somewhere else and at least try to get 1 night at the BLT so we can enjoy it first hand ( hopefully having it as a home resort will help ).

You could rent points from someone else now and when you close on your DVC, rent your points to someone else to cover the cost of the points you rented.

You should be fine with ROFR. However I know the wait can be awful!!! It will feel like the longest 30 days ever!!! By the time the points are loaded, you may not be able to get BLT for your whole week. With any luck you can get a few days and maybe do a split stay with AKV. AKV is a bigger resort and generally has more availability. The more flexible you can be with your dates of travel the better for you. Can`t wait to hear you passed and made your reservation!!!

Yes we are flexible for our dates and are open for a split stay ( AKV is on my list of hotel to try, I love the ambiance there ).

As long as we can fit at least 1 days at the BLT and manage to snag a reservation for California Grill ( which now worry me cause I can't make a reservation since I don't know the date of the vacation ) we will be happy.

Félicitations!

Very good choice - the BLT contract was a better deal than the SSR stripped contract. I really liked BLT when I stayed there last year, and I loved being able to walk to the MK in the morning. It made RD there so much easier :). We also enjoyed hopping on the monorail to go to the Poly to pool hop the volcano pool, or just to grab a Dole Whip.

Good luck on ROFR!

Oh My God ! I forgot about the fact I was one monorail away from a delicious self-serve Dole Whip ( one of the few thing we can't make at home because the darn recipe seem to be a secret ).
