Hi,

Well I guess it had to happen someday. I mean I went to Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Disney World, The cruise... I guess I was missing a DVC to complete it all.

We've been thinking about it for years, but since we are far away ( canada ) we never figured out what would suit us the best before this week.

We decided to go for a 50 pts DVC. By going every 2 years we would be able to get enough points for a week. Which would give us a nice vacation every 2 years for a fraction of what we usually paid to go to Disney. And with kids later on it's gonna be perfect.

I wanted to know your opinion on this prize. Timeshare Store seem to agree it would be a good offer but I wanted to double check.

50 pts ( 0 pts in 2014, 50 pts in 2015, ... ), UY in February and a price of 83$ / pts.

I was really hopping to find a DVC with 2014 pts but they are all sold. And anyway we can't go next year ( in 2015 ) so I guess we might as well use the points now. And we need to find something soon since we decided to do another trip this summer in late juner, early july. We need time to finish the sale and make the reservation.

What do you think of it, is it a good deal ?

Too high for a stripped contract IMO. Small contracts command a premium, but that looks like too much premium to me.

it's a bit higher than what I wanted, but it seem that's all there is on the market. I saw others contract go for 89$ so far :S

I totally agree. And I can't believe that I'm going to say this, but it you really need the small contract really quickly enough to overpay for a resale. I'd might be inclined to just spend the extra $2000 and buy the contract direct. At least you'd get a full complement of points.

What would be a better price range for it ?

I've been checking everywhere and it really seemed like one of the better deal around. The others one I wanted to get are already in the process of being sold ( had banked pts for this year which would have been perfect ).

Is $83pp the list price? You could always offer less, say $70pp?

Did you check other resorts? I know SSR has best point value. But for 50 point, no big difference between SSR and AKV/BWV/VWL in terms of initial investment and annual dues. You may find a much better deal at another resort.

it is a small contract so that sometimes puts a premium on the price, having said that i myself would try to get this for 65-70....maybe i am cheap! :confused3

If not there will be others and i would wait for the right deal.

I've checked other resort I called earlier for a great deal on Bay Lake Tower but they sold the timeshare right before I called.

All the others 50 pts contract are in a similar price range. Actually they are all at 88,89 or 89$, at 83$ it would be an offer on it.

I was thinking about trying to do a very low offer but I dont think "the timeshare store" will let me do it ( I've read on this forum they sometime refuse if they thing it's to low )

I would usually wait, but I don't want to end up with no DVC and therefore no summer vacation this year. I'm torn between waiting for a lower deal ( or at least a deal with banked pts ) or bite the bullet and at least make sure I would get everything in order for this summer.

Having been shopping for a few months, I will say $70.00 is not low. All they can do is say no and ypu can raise at that point.

imo a 50 point contract is too small, you will end up buying another one in no time. Also buying a stripped contract for that price is too high, if I were you I would just pay cash to go this summer or rent points and wait for a better deal. Either that or just make low offers on what is out there. If timesharestore won't do that there are plenty of other brokers out there who will

For a stripped contract at SSR? No, I don't think it's a good deal.

It it had all of its 2014 points, it would be fine.

Median sales price at SSR has been in the low $70s/point.

With the points stripped off, you're essentially paying $90-$94/point for SSR.

Even for a small contract, that's about $10/point too high IMHO.

Don't be in a rush. More will come on the market.

Fidelity has a couple of small BLT listings that are more reasonably priced.

The Timeshare Shore has a couple of small VWL that are more inline with current VWL asking prices.

I agree with others $83.00 is too much for a stripped contract, $70.00
would seem more reasonable of a price.

I tried to make an offer on of the Bay Lake Tower but it's already been sold and the others are asking for 100$ +

I guess I'll wait a couples more days and see what come up. I must admit I'm kind of surprise since everything I was seeing everywhere were in the 80$+ for a 50 pts contract.

The reality is, it is not a huge difference in total cost. at $83 a point, it is $4150. At $70, it is $3500. If you split the difference and offer $77, then its is $3850. In the scheme of Disney expenses, the couple hundred dollars will end up a rounding error.

Honestly, you are better off paying full price and asking them to pay closing costs.

Use various re-sale brokers and call constantly to show you're serious about the purchase.

As a direct buyer I've only the experience gained from reading these forums but it sounds like small contract rarely shows on the published lists because demand is so great.

Have you considered buying 50pts at GF direct? You don't have to use them there and the anual dues are low. You'd have your puchase completed in a hour and vacation booked.

I did think of it and the price per point is much higher ( 100$+ I think, correct me if I'm wrong on this ).

Will they sell 50 points direct for a first contract?

DVD offered me 75 points on a new SSR purchase last week. I decided to go with resale, but it shows that they are willing to go below the 100 point minimum.

I think they are willing to go lower than the 100 points, but 50 pts might be a stretch. Anyway, I realized that buying direct for me wouldn't work anyway since I'm in Canada and would have to get there to sign all the paper. Resale make it easier for this.
