About The Half Marathon In January

My DD is participating in the half marathon in January. Want to register her tomorrow, but got to thinking about her needing to be at Epcot at around 4:00 am and wondered how does she get there? We are a bit taxi ignorant, but is this the way she will have to get there and with so many participating, won't that be a problem having enough taxi's? She will be leaving from SS that morning. Do the buses run for the participants? Thanks in advance for any input.

There are buses at each resort to take the runners to EPCOT. The whole event is very well organized and your DD should have no problems. My DD and I are training to run the 5K in January and hopefully the Half Marathon in 2008. We had so much fun watching the marathon participants run by our room at the BWV that we decided to sign up for next year.

I addition to buses running to Epcot from each resort (last bus leaves at 4am) on the day of the races, transportation is also provided from the resorts to the Expo, where she will need to go to pick up her race number, chip and obilgatory t-shirt and goodies.

Disney contracts out with Mears to run these shuttles and they may pick up at a different location than the Disney buses, so make sure to ask at Guest Services ahead of time!
