We are planning another trip in early December. I love the Mexican items from the gift shop in the Mexican pavilion, especially the ceramic pieces and the huge sombrero hat they sell. We are doing our kitchen in a southwest theme. Every time we have visited we say we should buy one, but how would we get it home as we fly. I could see the faces if we brought it as a carry on. I know you can purchase things and have them shipped back to the hotel, but has anyone ever had them shipped directly to your home.
Thanks

I never have, but I can tell you that it would be very pricey.

If you will have a car, have the item sent to your resort.

Then, take it to the Sand Lake Post office where you can ship it home yourself. They have the flat rate boxes there and I've used those time and time again with excellent results.

To get to the Sand Lake Post office: from DTD, drive along Hotel Plaza Blvd, toward Cross Roads Plaza. At that intersection (Hotel Plaza and 535) take a left but move immediately to the right lane. At the next intersection take a right on Palm Parkway. Drive along Palm Parkway which will become Turkey Lake Road. The post office will be on your left. If you come to the intersection of Turkey Lake and Sand Lake (Whole Foods will be on your right) you have gone too far.

Yes. We ship things home all of the time. Shipping is a flat-rate based on the purchase price. We have even shipped home from the outlet stores.

If we think we may do a TON of shopping, (In some years past we have done our Christmas shopping) we will tour the parks and have things sent to our hotel. Once we are certain we are done with our shopping, we then have the resort hotel consolidate the order and pay to have it shipped home. This is such a common occurrence that our UPS guy always comments. He knows giant box from Lake Buena Vista means we have been to Disney. :rotfl:

***In past years shipping home allowed us to purchase tax-free since our purchases were shipped out of state. Now that Disney owns the Disney Store again, I do not know if the park purchases will be tax exempt??

thanks for the info-just want to make sure I understand the process. We shop at disney-send packages back to resort-have the resort hold them until we are done -have the desk at the resort box and ship home via UPS for a fee base on the total of the receipts from shopping
would you happen to remember about what the cost was- I'll probaly be in the 200. range of items-could you insure the package
I know it would be alot cheaper to ship ourselves, but we are only there for 5 days and hate to take the time to pack and ship ourselves

Insurance was included and the shipping charge maxed out at like $25 or $30

If you every buy anything in the Art of Disney stores the employees point out that the shipping charge is less than the sales tax on like a $350 item. We have shipped one expensive item and other times we shipped a whole bunch of $20 items, both times I thought the shipping charge more than fair.

Seriously one time we had two boxes, each the size of an outdoor air conditioner. I am certain I could not have shipped these boxes for half of what Disney charged me.

This is why the UPS man teases me.

Will it fit in one of the Post Office flat rate boxes? It might be a cheaper option.

I bought my husband one as a joke on a solo trip. I picked it up at package delivery since I didn't want to carry it around the park all day. It was rolled up inside the bag, so it wasn't as big as I expected. I was able to fit it in my suitcase for the plane ride home with no problem. Since the hat was only around $14 I wouldn't want to pay the $10 that shipping at Disney starts at. When I got it home we had to set some heavy books on it to flatten it out again, but it did flatten back out, so don't freak like I did!!

Did you know you can ship 5 foot sword via UPS from Calafornia to Michigan and have it make it there? We did this one vacation (it was heavy long sword) and shipping was around $10.
