I just found out that I am unexpectedly expecting child # 3! I will be preg during this trip in October but next year I will have another little bundle.... My ? is this...Can we do a 12-5 stateroom now or do we have to upgrade to a Cat 4? The baby will be 7 mos and just in a portacrib. Everytime I check DCL it bumps me to a 4 but I thought that if a child is under age one we could do the other staterooms.....Thanks!!! :confused3

Unfortunately the head count is just that, exactly how many PEOPLE in the room, regardless of age..

It would have to be a cat.4, or perhaps two connecting or non connecting lower category staterooms..

It's a Coast Guard/life jacket issue ... if the room only sleeps four, you can't add a 5th even if it's an infant in a portacrib; you either need a room that sleeps 5 (cat 1-4) or you need two rooms (connecting or across the hall from each other).

Congrats on the new baby.

You will need to get a room for 5 because the head count is what Disney goes on. You can get a Cat 5 or do two lower cat rooms that adjoin. Some times the latter is cheapier.
