Hi everyone-- we're planning our first ever Holiday time trip, and we have some logistics questions for you MVMCP veterans:

1. Do you think it will be crowded on the Sunday after T-giving?

2. If we buy advance tix for that Sunday, or Tuesday (Dec 2), and it rains, will they let us use the tix on Thursday (Dec 4) instead?

Any insights are appreciated.

Hey, Walt! Sounds like we'll be visiting the house of mouse around the same time. I've been to the parks several times during the week following Thanksgiving (I arrive on Saturday after Thanksgiving, leaving the following Saturday), and have done the MVMCP a few times. Here's my thoughts, based on a few experiences:

Any time you can avoid a weekend, do so. Generally speaking, the parks tend to be crowded on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, less so on Sunday, and much, much less so by Monday (Sundays can still be crowded because some folks opt to leave either late Sunday or wait and travel on Monday to avoid the post-Thanksgiving masses who travel on Sunday).

My vote would be for the Tuesday (in fact, that's when I bought my ticket for). I would expect it to be quite a bit less crowded than Sunday.

As for rain... I'm afraid it's a "rain or shine" kinda deal. If you buy a ticket and it rains on Tuesday, they can't let you go on Thursday because those tickets have already been sold, and that day may actually sell out. So it's sort of a "cross your fingers" kinda thing, or, as they say in Vegas, "roll the dice and take your chances." The good news is: I've never had it rain during my post-Thanksgiving week MVMCP. That's not to say I haven't gotten rain during the week... my pal Betsy and I spent a day in a steady rain over at The Animal Kingdom (it was actually quite a bit of fun... felt like we were really in the rain forest!). But it's never rained on Mickey's Christmas party. At least not for me, not yet!

Richard

Last year several of the MVMCP's were rainy and they did allow exchanges or refunds.

I didn't plan on buying my tickets until we got there on Friday, we planned on a Tuesday night, they usually don't sellout. The weather forecast was really crappy and Tuesday looked bad and Thursday was iffy. So I waited, the front desk said both nights were available. It rained hard the entire day Monday and Monday night. Tuesday afternoon the sun came out so I went to the front desk and bought the tickets for that night. It was worth paying the same day price, that night was warm and dry. Thursday night turned out to be torrential rain! We left Friday morning and it still had not stopped raining.

Thanks for the input Richard!

Actually, I had heard it was a rain or shine kind of thing, the only exceptions being genuinely severe weather, such as a hurricane.

We're trying to decide whether to buy advance tix and hope for good weather, or wait 'til we get there, and spend the extra five bucks per ticket at the gate ( so we can choose a good night weather-wise).

We'll probably just buy them now though, and hope for the best.

MVMCP'S You can get most times on day of MVMCP.Most week end dates for MVMCP are sell outs.I would go for 12/2/03 tickets and hope for nice weather if you buy early. We always do we have tickets for 12/9/03 MVMCP which is on Tuesday. We have been going to MVMCP at least one time and most times twice since 1992.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:
