We are going with another family to DW in May. My daughter will be 13 by then and their daughter is 15. I feel like they are both responsible enough to be able to go throughout the park on their own and ride things. I was just wondering if anybody has any good tips on making this work smoothly. Everyone here seems to have such good tips and suggestions that I would just never think of especially since it's been almost 11 years since we went to DW. TIA.

Do each of the girls have cellphones? I would also make sure that you know let them know that if they do not check in or return on time, they will not have a ny future "alone time" this has worked wonders with my DD13 at our "boardwalk" If she is in line for a ride when it comes close to "curfew" or check in time, she calls, tells me where she is and we agree to meet when she gets off of that ride.

My girls were 13,14,15 the first time they went off on their own. The rules were basically stay in the same park, keep your cell phone turned on and don't be late to the meeting place. We had the dining plan so they went and got lunch on their own as well as snacks. I just had to remember to ask how many snack credits they used...dd13 was an ice cream freak. Oh yeah, and the most important thing was to stay together.

It worked fine for us. Only one time did the 13 year old get in trouble. She was going through the phase where she was always right, she knew everything etc. So, the 15 yo called and set up a meeting place and dropped her off. I could tell something was wrong when the walked up. DD15 spent 5 minutes explaining their situation, the whole time dd13 arguing so she spent the rest of the day with us. Bad idea, she ended fighting with her dad the rest of the day and pouting because her sisters left her behind.

They will have fun together!

We haven't done this yet with our children because so far they have wanted to stay with us. However, I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they had their phones and stayed in the same park as us. I have been thinking more about it lately because DH and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on our next trip, and it would be fun to have a dinner somewhere nice without the kids. :) Plus my oldest would be almost 17 by then too. Gee... I'm getting old!

Anyway, I think you could try it. I am sure they would be fine. :goodvibes
