My son loves the Spiderman ride at IOA and I am wondering if it is more of a walk on ride with WWoHP being open or if the entire park is just insane with masses of people?

I'm sure it makes a difference when you are going. I'm assuming in July it will be crowded all over.

We are going in November. I was kind of hoping to put off Universal until next year and let the Harry Potter craze wear off a bit but my son is a big Super Hero fan and all he can talk about is the Spiderman ride so I am debating whether to take a day and do IOA.

In November it should not be bad at all. Even the WWOHP should have slowed down by then. As long as you are not coming Thanksgiving week you should be fine.

We were there last week and WWoHP was packed but the rest of the park was a ghost town.

We're there now. We walked on Spiderman tonight (around 6:30 pm) with our Express pass. The sign for the regular line said it was a 15 minute wait. The wait time in the morning has been minimal & has seemed to peek between 12 & 3 (wait times showing 45-60 minutes).

We went to IoA on Wednesday and the majority of rides were a 5 minute wait before 10am.

We were there Thurs-Sun and most rides were 5-15 minute waits in the regular line. Express was walking directly to loading on most. The crowds were very light.

I have a questions for all you Spiderman riders. How scary is this ride? I have a 9 year old who wants to ride it. Someone told me they shock you on the ride. He freaked when the bee stung him on It's Tough to Be a Bug at the Animal Kingdom. How bad is the shock, where is it (hand, back, bottom) and when does it happen. Maybe if I forewarn him it won't be as bad.

LOL they don't really shock you. Forget about him being scared, the ride is worth it and if he wants to ride it let him. They "shock" the whole car and all you feel is the car shake a bit but it does make a loud noise. Don't take the experience away from him because of that.

When does a bee sting you on tough to be a bug? I don't remember that.

My 7 year old daughter loved it!! She is tiny, about 45 lbs and hung on for dear life. We went probably 15 times during our 5 day stay. Her favorite ride by far. She liked Forbidden Journey too, but only wanted to go once (scared her a bit to go again).
The "shock" part is really just the ride car getting jarred around quickly in place while the character on the screen is holding some shock mechanism to your car. Then you quickly get taken from scene to scene.
My daughter is not super tough, so I'd say most kids can take it!

Sounds like he will love it. He wants to ride FJ and I am fully expecting him to be in my bed that night after the dementors.

The bee sting is near the end. Every seat has a different spot for the the probe to come out and give you a little shock. Mine was on the shoulders but my kids got theirs on their bottoms. It happens so quick and does not really hurt but it freaked him out a couple of years ago.

At the end when all the bugs are leaving. You get poked in the back and feel some rumbling/bumping on your seat as the different bugs leave the auidence before us humans.

Ahh ok right... I do remember that now... actually that DID hurt LOL

My son was 3 last year when he rode on the Spiderman ride - it is all he has talked about since last year. LOL. He loved the ride - it is intense but fun.
I think that your 9 year old will love the ride. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the information on the rest of the park being pretty much empty - that was the news that I was hoping for!
