I got my DS one of those cables that connects gameboy to gamecube for Christmas. He is trying to use it now and every gameboy game he puts in reads "no disc". Are we doing something wrong, or did we get a bad cable? I got it from Amazon so I don't know if I can send it back or not. These are GBA games.

We had to purchase a gameboy player that fits underneath your game cube.
We bought one when it first came out a few years back for $49.

There are a few gameboy games that were created especially to be connected to the gamecube. Games like Zelda four swords, Windwaker, Pac-Man Vs., and a few more. Most gameboy games though, cannot be connected to the gamecube with just a simple cable.
In order to play your gameboy games on the cube, and see them on the TV, you need to get what the previous poster mentioned, a special adapter that fits onto the gamecube, which allows you to play your gameboy games. This adapter runs from about 50 dollars up. It also comes with a disc (I believe)that is needed to play the games as well.

Wow! I feel really misled. I had no idea I would need an adapter. I'll go to EB games tomorrow and see if maybe I can pick up a used one (without them trying to upgrade us to DS lite!)

Join the club. When I first bought one of those cables I thought the same thing - Great for just a few bucks I can connect all my son's gameboy games right to the Cube, and play them on TV. It took me a while to figure out the real deal.

Those of you who have it, do you like it? I've got two boys bugging me for it. Or at least I did, until DH built them a computer and they got their favorite games for the PC. How many versions of Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 can one household have?

The answer (2 each of the gameboy, 1 for the gamecube and now two for the PC, since you have to have the disc installed to play it)

I originally purchased the gameboy player for the game cube so that I could play Pokemon games. Yes, I play Pokemon games and have for a long time.

Anyway, we only had one Gameboy at the time, so it was cheaper to pay $49 for a player that connects to the bottom of the game cube than to buy a new Gameboy.

We like being able to see what is going on with a big tv screen instead of the little gameboy screen. DS and I were able to trade Pokemon while viewing it on the television.

The gameboy adapter for the gamecube fits underneath the game cube. There is a little disc that goes into your game cube and a slot for your gameboy came in that player.

If your kids like to play gameboy games (not the new DS games though) it's neat to play them on the television. We've had a lot of fun with our gameboy adapter thing for the game cube.
