We are thinking about purchasing DVC points and are wondering how Disney figures the maintenance costs? Do they base it on the points you have? Is is a $$ amount per point?? Thanks for the help!!

It is a dollar amount per point and averages around $4.00. I have a full list at home for each resort but have no doubt that someone else will post them.

Yes, dues (maintenance and taxes) are on a per point basis snd vary depending on the actual upkeep costs of the resort that you own. They payable for a calendar year in January, no matter what "Use year" you own. You can also have them deducted monthly from your bank account.

For what it's worth, maintenance costs per point have been rising in the 5-7% range the past few years. It is definitely not a static number.

Call 1-800-******** and get ahold from someone from the DVC. They will fax you or send you the cost per year based on points you own and the home resort. Each resort is a bit different. We have 270 points at SSR and it runs us about $75-80 per month. I forget but its based on points/home resort.

I have 200 points at SSR and am paying $95/month. Sounds like something is wrong? This month was my first dues payment so maybe something is pro-rated?

Look at your purchase agreement. Everything is spelled out in there.

If you can't figure it out, call Member Accounting.

What they do is prorate, but then when you first buy they don't actually charge the dues until after you close so you end up having to pay a little more each month than you would have normally paid with the prorated fees for the year.

Something to keep in mind is the automatic deduction with the dues. As mentioned, they are due in January but you can arrange to have them automatically deducted monthly from your bank account and Disney does not charge any interest or penalty. Disney also accepts credit card payments for the full amount.
