Anyone have the Disney Visa card? We are thinking about getting one...The only reason we are going get another card is for the points towards Disney. Is it worth it? I don't even know how it works. Should we get the card now and build up more points b/c we aren't going to Disney until May.

I have one. I pay it off every month.

I basically use it as a debit card.

I use my points 2 to 3 times per year.

This last time I redeemed points, I had $160.00 (give or take) and used them towards my dining plan for an upcoming trip.

The time before that was in January (I have DVC and use my points to pay my dues) and I had a couple of hundred dollars.

I think it's great to get EXTRA money for something I would buy anyway.

I like how I get $1 disney dollar for every $100 that I spend. I've had other cards where I get $1 for every $125 or $150 that I spend.

I have one too and love it to use for spending money on our Disney vacations. I also pay it off every month to make it worth it. If you have time to save up points between vacations I think it is a great choice.

We pay ours off every month & use the bonus points/dollars toward AP & hotel costs. We tend to save for about 4-5 years & then spend the entire savings over the year we have AP. We also save our change during that time & use it for spending cash.

After 4.5 years of saving & upgrading to the Premier Visa (annual fee is minimal but you earn points faster on things like groceries, gas, etc.) we have a total of $937 toward AP for our family of 3. (FL residents so our Seasonal Passes aren't terribly expensive compared to all things Disney ;)) After just 18-24 months our rolled change totalled $249 so between the 2 sources of savings, we have enough for the AP & a couple of nights of hotel costs. As we continue to earn points this year, we'll use them as we go with each trip.

It's the ONLY way we do Disney, if I saved the money up any other way I'd justify using it for a bunch of different reasons. This way we are guaranteed to slow down & have some fun every couple of years no matter what, & it's just enough time for things to be new & exciting again. :thumbsup2

Don't forget there are in park perks as well. For instance, in EPCOT you get to go to a special room just for Visa card holders during the F&W festival. In there you can get drinks and food. You can also have a private photo session with Mickey and Minnie that is just for card holders as well!

We use our Disney VISA for the six months same as cash for our trips. It is great for planning trips in April before we get our income tax return. Plus you get points!
We also use in the parks for the % off gifts and etc we buy. Not to mention other special events. It does have a high percentage rate so besides trips, I pay it off every month.
