For reservations between Sept 28-Oct 4, rooms at the YC are being held in a block until 8/29 for a medical conference.

We already have a reservation during that time. I'm thinking maybe I should change resorts? I don't want to lose the magical feeling of staying at Disney. What has been your experience with conferences? Did you notice them much? Crowded? :confused3

We have only stayed at the swan during a conference and I was wondering if we should change our reservation too. We stayed put. The only difference we noticed is if you were waiting for an elevator sometimes. Honestly, the conference people are in the conference all day so they shouldnt impact the busses etc., At the swan we only noticed a few guys getting a little fresh air by the pool during their lunch break. I dont know how it would work out with food and restraunts at the resort. Sometimes they have their own area etc. You might want to inquire about that. But if you already have adrs then you dont have to worry.

But now my dh is going to the swan for a conference in nov/dec and they are spreading out the rooms between the swan, dolphin, coronado springs and por. I cant imagine this. I am hoping we get the swan, we actually need it because the 3 ds and I are tagging along with dh.

There was a Large Conference @ the CR when I was there the beginning of July.

There were a lot of them! I especially noticed them at the Outer Rim Bar, and always saw them in the elevators, or at the conceirge desk making reservations (Mostly for the California Grill) and some were buying park passes for there families who were there with them.

Thanks for the replys. Anyone else had experience with conference crowds? How about losing the magic with all the suits around? :rotfl2:

We spend most of our time at the hotel either at the pool or sleeping, so the conference folks never affected our magical experience. Last time we were at the Swan/Dolphin (can't remember which one) there was a big conference. The only thing I really noticed were more people at the lounge having drinks, which we didn't spend time at any anyway. :flower:

I have been at the Swan, Dolphin & CSR during conferences & never lost one bit of the Magic at all. Sure I saw some business people, but they never impacted my mood. They were never anything but nice, never any different than any other guests. I think they will only impact the Magic for you if you decide it's an issue & worry about it. When I'm in WDW, I'm not really that worried about what anyone else is doing. Sure I smile & say hi & be happy & friendly to those around me, but my main concern is just enjoying the World.
Don't sweat it & you won't even notice them.

I think you'll be fine. We tagged along with DH to a convention last Dec--there were a few conventions going on at the same time. I thought the people we met were a blast--- they were ready for fun after a day of meetings!

I saw a post from another board for a DTD hotel saying always ask if there's a convention when you book--and which kind. He and his family were there with a convention for recovering drug addicts. THey said the pool was one huge cloud of cigarette smoke.
