? about computer memory space...Dom? or anyone?

Am wondering if my computer can handle the install of this program... My brother installed PhotoShop CS3 on my laptop- He said I couldn't do CS4 due to my computers space...
So now I have another program- Can I also install it? Will it run okay since PhotoShop CS3 is on here-
Is the space only needed while the program is running (open) or does it need that much space to install and be "held" on my computer- I use my laptop mostly but if I have to I will install it on my desktop-

Programs need RAM to run. Depending on how much RAM you have you may not be able to run both programs simultaneously especially when editing big pics. Both the HD space (storage) and the amount of RAM needed should be either printed on the box or in the online technical info. You need to leave at least 10% of your HD space available for the computer to operate. I suspect what your brother was talking about was RAM and not your HD but it could be your HD space or even both.
