We leave in just a couple days, I'm trying to get some things together for my dd's & dn's to keep them busy on our Long flight (from LA to Orlando). They have all these cute little crafty things packed, but if we can't pack scissors, than almost all of that is out! What else is out there for them to do???? When the say no sharp objects, these scissors aren't really sharp! They're childrens scissors, rounded tip, very dull, Hopefully would cut something like yarn, that they want to make friendship bracelets with. Will security let them take childrens scissors?
Thanks for any help!

I went to the Disney.com site and in there I found a print shop and printed out a bunch of coloring pages for the kids on the plane. They have all the different characters and some paper doll and princess crowns also. Sometimes the site is difficult to get into so you have to be patient.

I also tried to be creative in finding things to keep the kids happy during our 3 hour flight. I had seen something interesting on the back of a box of Fruit Loops that gave me an idea. They had the rope licorice with all kinds of candies with holes in them on it to make a necklace with the cereal and candy. But instead of using candy I decided to just use apple cinnimon cheeries and the rope licorice. I'm gonna make little baggies with the licorice and cereal and they can put them together and eat them on the plane. We are going at 7:00am so a candy rush at that hour is totally out of the picture.

I'm making the kids goody bags to open on the plane that will have Guest of Honor Badges, Minnie clipon flashlight, glo necklaces (for MVMCP), princess fruit rollups, gum and the home made coloring books I made.

I'm also having my DD who is 7 take along her math flash cards because she could use to study and fine tune that subject. Oh I also bought the girls each a new book to read for their bags also. There are so many things you can do, I got alot of ideas from these boards.

Good luck and have fun with the MOUSE!

Could you precut some of the craft items and then let them assemble them on the plane? It will be less fun and take less time up but it might be an option. My quess is that No sissors would be allowed right now. Your DD's might like the paper doll books that you punch out the dolls and clothes. The dollar stores has several disney ones right now! Lots of art stuff would still be an option.Gell pins, markers etc are always a hit. Healty snacks that take a lot of time to eat are great too. Good Luck and have fun!

Just ran across this item on Continental's web site quoting the Federal Regulations

Note: No knives of any size or material are allowed past the security checkpoint (including, but not limited to, pocket knives, folding or retractable blades regardless of blade length or composition, box cutters, X-Acto knives, metal nail files, scissors with a pointed tip, straight razors, corkscrews, Leatherman, or Swiss Army Knives).

Going by this, seems the round tip safety scissors should be OK. Why not call your airline and ask?
