About Character Performer Role...?

I've been debating on whether or not to have Character Performer on my checklist...

I LOVE performing, and I think just to be able to audition for someone who works for Disney is amazing.

I would really want to be a face character, and I'm sure everyone wants to be, but I hear that it's extremely rare for a CP to get a role as a face character. I was talking to someone who just had their interview today and they were told by the interviewer that they are mainly looking for fur characters and it's rare that a CP gets placed as a face character.

I've also been told that no matter what...even if you DO get to be a face character that you start off in fur...and that everyone gets trained in fur.

Sooo as great as it would be to be Mickey or Minnie, etc. That doesn't really appeal to me. I would much rather be a face character and be able to interact with the guests more. You're pretty limited inside a suit .

I dunno. I know on the CP site it says that you could be a Parade Performer too? I didn't know if that meant character wise or one of the dancers. That's something else that I'd love to do.

But from what I've read, people who are full time Disney employees are usually the ones who are the face characters and get to perform in stage shows and such.

Hmm. I dunno, I'm kind of on the fence here. If anyone knows anything about being a character or what roles or characters you get put into when you're down there...it would be MUCH appreciated!

Unfortunately, it is pretty rare for CPs to get face (and get trained for a parade or show). Mainly you will be doing fur (aka being friends with Mickey, Pooh, ect). Which characters you are friends with depends on your height. So if you're on the shorter side, you will be friends with Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, ect. Mid-height, Chip and Dale, Pooh, ect. Taller, Goofy, Tigger, ect.

This is just me, but I would love to be a character (even if it's just fur). It may not seem it, but there is a lot of interaction. Plus, people love meeting the characters

DD is there doing Fall Advantage and was just selected to be friends with Piglet in the MNSSHP Boo to You parade! She's mouse range and has worked in MK and Contemporary and applied for the parade as soon as they began the requests. So, there is hope for CP fur characters to experience being in a parade...stay hopeful and apply for all openings.
