About appetizers....

Since appetizers are no longer included on the DDP...have the portion sizes gotten larger? Each year we used the DDP ('05, '06 and '07) it seemed that the portion sizes became smaller. At some restaurants the appetizers were large enough to share but at most they seemed to be a tiny single serving. For example, the honey sesame chicken wings at Concourse Steakhouse came in huge serving while the Shrimp Cocktail at Le Cellier was quite small and really just enough for one person. I'm sure this seems like a strange question but I was just thinking that if we needed to pay for appetizers out of pocket it would be better to share. Any thoughts?

I thought all the appetizers I had last year were quite large, and definatly enough to share.

It seems the fancier the restaurant....the smaller the portions.
I think sharing an appetizer would be fine....just ask your server if it is large enough.

I would think a lot of it has to do with where you are dining and the type of appetizer. Chicken wings cost a lot less than shrimp so it makes sense you'd get less shrimp compared to wings.

In addition, a restaurant serving of virtually any course would ideally be sized to serve one person.

Want the Mussels at LeCellier.

I guess I'm just used to going to places where appetizers are large enough to share! That is an excellent point about the cost of chicken vs the cost of shrimp. I never thought of it that way! I still think the DDP is a good deal and definitely convenient!
