We have a 2BR SV at AKL booked for our party of 6 for a week in April. However, we are looking into adding a night to the beginning of that week for my family of 5 (one is an infant). I was thinking of trying to get a value studio since it's just for one night. MS told me that I couldn't have 4 people plus the baby (in a Pack N Play) if I got a value studio. I would have to get a standard studio. Is this right? I would have thought it wouldn't matter since the baby will be in the PNP.

Thanks for your help. :)

That's the first I've heard that the value studios can't accommodate an infant in addition to the stated max.

Since AKV is still so new, I'm inclined to believe the CM made an error. Call back tomorrow and try again. I think you will be allowed to do it.

I was told on my tour the other day the a AKL value may be smaller square footage because it is an old AKL room converted to a DVC room.
That being said it will still have a Queen bed and a sleeper sofa and a pack N play. I was told on my tour you could do 4 plus a pack n play in the value room category.

Thank you for the replies. I thought MS was incorrect, but I asked her more than once if she was sure I couldn't have 2 adults, 2 children, and 1 infant in the value studio and she said I could not and that I'd have to get a standard. It just doesn't make sense. We've stayed in a reg AKL room and used a PNP and it was fine, so I don't see how it wouldn't work for the villas. Anyway, thanks again. I'm going to call MS again tomorrow and see what they say.

It's probably a confused CM but it is also possible that they are restricting the occupancy of the Values to four regardless of age.

How big is the PNP? Where did you set it up in the AKL rooms? Just so you are aware, as part of the conversion of AKL rooms to AKV studios they put the kitchenette where the closet used to be. Instead of building a new closet, they are putting an armoire into what was the only open space in the AKL rooms (between the TV armoire and the closet wall).

This is the floor plan for a studio in Kidani Village. The Jambo House studios are a bit different, but this is the only floor plan available that includes furniture. The sleeping/living area of the Value studio will be 3-4 feet shorter than this floor plan so all the furnishings will be crammed that much closer together than what you see here.

Ok, so maybe MS is correct then. In the reg AKL room, we put the PNP between the TV unit and the closet wall. From what you're describing, there will be an armoire in that spot. I suppose the PNP might fit over by the sink area, but I don't know. I think a standard studio is only one more point than a value, so it's not a huge deal if we have to get a standard. I was just hoping to be able to use either value or standard to give us a better chance of getting any studio for that one night.

Thanks so much for your help! You seem to be the AKV expert!

It should be 4 plus one under 3 so you should be OK from that aspect. Just call back and make the reservation and I doubt you'll have any trouble.

I'm just speculating here, so it's possible you got a confused MS CM and they will allow 4 plus a toddler in the PNP. It's certainly worth another call. There are a lot of booking categories for AKV and several reports of MS CMs giving out incorrect information. But I did want to make you aware of the armoire issue. I don't think there will be any open space left anywhere along the wall. And if the Standard View is only one point more, it would be worth it to have the extra 3-4 feet of length in the living/sleeping area if you are filling the room to capacity!

One difference between that Kidani floor plan and the Jambo House studios is that the bathroom vanity area in Jambo is open (exactly like the AKL rooms) whereas the Kidani studios have a door into that area. Also, if you got a lockoff studio rather than a dedicated studio there would be a small amount of space in front of the connecting door. In the dedicated studios there will be a small broom closet in that area.

MS is absolutely incorrect. When I booked a value studio, MS tried to tell me that also. I requested to speak with a supervisor and suddenly I was right. You can definitely have 4 plus an infant under 3 in a pack n play in a value studio.

They let us book it with 4 plus an infant. I would definitly call back.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for all of your responses. I called MS today and they said we could have 4 + an infant in a value studio, so I booked it. I can't wait to stay at AKV!

A happy ending - thanks for letting us know. :)

Enjoy the stay!
