Hi!

We are thinking about doing an add on at VWL (if our use year is available-may need to waitlist).

We bought our initial contract through resale-150 points.

My question is this, if we say add on 75 points through Disney does the contract then become 225 points?

I'll further clarify. If we later decide to sell the points (gasp!) would the points be two separate contracts of 150 and 75 points or would this be considered one contract of 225 points?

TIA
Renee

My understanding is that you will have two separate contracts, so if you *gasp* want to sell them individually you can. If you buy it through Disney you will have the same contract number as your original with a .002 extension. We also bought a resale contract first (BWV) , then added two small BWV contracts and a BCV contract through Disney. The add-ons have the same contract number but with the extenstion .002, .003, and .004. When I call member services they are treated as separate contracts though, so I have to specify from which contract I want to bank, borrow, etc. Hope that helps, good luck with the add-on, once you start though, you can't stop!

I'm pretty sure it will always be 2 contracts. Your initial 150 and then whatever you buy through Disney. I think Disney will give you the same use year as your first contract. Some people think this is important, others not so much.

Not to be picky, but the add ons start at .001, the original contract is .000, but all other information is correct.

I checked my three add-on contracts again and they are numbered .002, .003, and .004. Maybe mine are different then yours because I purchased my original contract through resale??

That is possible. Your original contract might have been an add-on to another existing contract, hence why you're started at .001. Master contracts (the first bought from DVC) does start with the .000 extention. It is also possible that you did buy the .000 contract on the resale market and the seller decided to retain their first add-on, giving them the .001 extention.

I have never had to specify contract when I call MS. Maybe because my original and all 4 add-ons are BWV, Oct. use year? I realize that our latest add-on at OKW will be a different matter, even though it is Oct., use year.

Since it's all the same resort up until now, you really didn't have to specify. We own at VWL and BWV, same use year, and do have to specify which contract we want to use when we call. At the 7 month window, the points are all the same, but unless you're making a ressie with all your points, they will want to know which resort you want to use first.

Once you have a second resort it becomes an issue, mostly because of the 11 month window, I've had to be careful to keep enough points in my BCV contract to get a a reservation at the 11 month window there while making other reservations. Even with the same use year it takes a little organizaton, not one of my strongest points. My other problem is my two BWV add-ons are small, so making a reservation always comes down to "take 50 from that one, 59 from that one, 65 from that one" etc. I use an excel worksheet to keep track of it all.

LOL. We have three add-ons, three home resorts, but one use year/master contract. Boy, it takes some creative Excel work to be able to get everything to balance out (I have our point use planned out to 2009 to try to make things work efficiently). And then you need to make sure MS does it the way you want (and they are very, very good about asking and walking through it with you).

I am so glad I have only two home resorts and one use year, as more than that could get confusing. At this point I can keep track of all of it in my head (great memory and good at math, which helps), but any more than these two would require a spreadsheet for sure. We have bought three add-ons, two at our original "home" of BWV and one at SSR (for that AP incentive); notably, they are numbered .002, .003 and .005 (we decided against adding on at VB - .001, and the Guide messed up the terms on our second BWV add-on - .004).

But just keeping track of two home resorts is a chore. It is made easier by our usage, 11 month ressies use the BWV points, anything in the 7 month or less range the SSR first.
