this is mostly an add on to cruises starting or ending in San Diego, but nice itinerary for Disney fans! We booked it as a stand alone trip-- I grew up in LA and live in San Diego so yes, Disneyland is readily accessible (as have been studio tours via D23). But I have never done a behind the scenes tour of Disneyland, and we love the Grand Californian hotel (trip has all three nights there), so we are splurging on this one! Will be interesting to see how many non-cruisers will be booking this over the longer SoCal ABD. BTW, it opened today for all bookings-- no early opening for Insiders.

This new ABD trip really interests us as well since we live and grew up in California. We have always wanted to do Backstage Magic but were having a hard time justifying the cost and week off of work when we have already been to Hollywood so many times. This shorter more Disneyland and Imagineering focused ABD seems to include the best of Backstage Magic. I hope this trip is successful as we may not be able to go until 2019.

This looks interesting to me as well and I also hope they continue it in 2019. We don't travel in windstorm season but a spring trip sounds wonderful.

Starting to really look forward to the release date for ABd '19!

This is how I feel, also. If I go to Southern California, I need to visit relatives, so I really just couldn't justify the expense and a whole week for the BSM trip. But I could do this one. I've been to Walt Disney Studios, but have not been to Imagineering. And I'm sure the in-park tour is more extensive than the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour... I can't do it this year, but the short trip is definitely on my radar for 2019.

I think it sounds like an excellent splurge. I hope it's successful enough to last until 2019!

This actually sounds good to me. I've been on 4 BSM's and have to admit that the Hollywood portion is the least interesting to me. Yes, it does have some interesting parts. But to me the Imagineering portion is the best part of this and the DL/DCA sections are really fun.
