ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Okay, going to try and get my guess in early this time. I have never been to Hoop De Doo Musical Revue, but based on Glenn's TR and the significance of the washboard, and being outside, I will guess that is the H you are looking for. I know they have trail rides at Fort Wilderness CG, so I'll go with horses for the second part of my guess.

Great update! Love the detailed photos you were able to get! How lovely that you were able to have a special moment of remembering your Grandma on POTC.

We saw the Flights of Wonder show on our most recent trip but I forgot his name (bad DISer!). Love the tidbits you guys are sharing! I need to get some imagineering/behind the scenes books.

Woo-hoo! I knew H right away since we were just there!
Hoop De Doo and nearby there are horses

Marv, you're working yourself to death!! Come back and play!! I mean really hang out and play. ;)

I should have thrown all the poignant stuff about my Pirates ride in the update, I guess. It really was a BIG part of my evening.

I don't think the whole Bwana Bob thing would have even registered had I not remembered that place over in Adventureland. Funny how the Imagineers tie all these cool details together. :3dglasses:wizard:

And you just reminded me, I need to get the DHS book that recently came out!!!

Hey Liesa! Here's my guess for H:

Hoop Dee Doo Review and nearby you can see Horses (my utmost fav animal in the world!)

Ohmygoodness, ohmygoodness!!!! I was on the OLD threading, thinking oh, boy, got back just in time for a NEW thread, so make my way over all excited...to find page 79?!?!?

Maybe we should consider me a newbie who is very excited to see what happens next in the drama department? ::yes:: After all, it's been so long since I've been here no one will know who I am anyway!! :rotfl2: Leisa, if not for FB you'd have forgotten me long ago. You know, I'm the quiet one. :rolleyes1

Okay, so I'm not the best TR follower, but heck, life got in the way the last seven months. :rolleyes1

Will do my best to keep up this time around - 3rd time's the charm?:thumbsup2 Might not say much - y'all are waay to clever for me, but will at least say howdy now and then.

Okay - back to try and catch up! :surfweb: popcorn::

:grouphug:

I would love to hear what your favorite WDW tidbit books are! (Or anyone else's recommendations) I just got my new D23 magazine yesterday and can't wait to read that - it is always full of interesting articles.

I was just about to open a new column in the spreadsheet and start recording guesses. i'll make sure your guess is in there. :thumbsup2

HAHAHA! Okay the, Christine... :welcome:!!! Now that I think about it, I must have lost you right about the thread switchover. "Tis ok... lots to catch up on here.

There hasn't been a lot of drama up til now- well... except the time I stripped my shirt off because I was about to sponaneously combust. Unfortunately, it was the moment I met Mary! :lmao::lmao:

but there's moree drama coming up soon. Right about the time I check in for the Poly.

Hmmm. my favorite ones the Imagineers Guides to... (all 4 parks), The Hidden Magic of Disney World, The Hidden Mickey book, Lou Mongello's Trivia books, and there's one other whose name escapes me right at the moment. But most of the cool stuff I've found are on websites. And those are all over the place.

well me lady, you have finally chosen a picture of my favorite part of WDW.

you are at the FW wilderness campground and your girls are waiting to get into.
"hoop de doo revue"

which is a "hoedown of a good time" if you ask me.

i dont think you are talking about the "hickory Hollow" camp loop that is a short stop away on the orange line that runs around the outer perimeter of the campground (at least that was what the they were alling that line when we were there) we ran past that loop on our campground runs, and would take a shortcut to the pool to cool off afterwards.
:thumbsup2

i will play until i leave....im just hoping that my trip doesnt overlap two rounds so i have a shot at another one.

us tooo, less than two weeks.

marv is pretty busy right now, the project he is working on is BIG...but i talked to him last night and he is doing well.

Good luck Dan. I missed 3 letters, I think. But I'll take over for you while you're gone!:goodvibes

Hey, Cap't O~

Just wanted to let you know, I just spend 1/2 hour reading your cruise report! Just wanted to say you, seriously, are one FABULOUS writer; I enjoyed EVERY bit of it!!

Had to laugh at Mickey D's being Plan B! Shocked really that Earl wasn't#2!

Never heard of Bonine, but will look that up- my mom gets sick, but cruises a lot- I'll mention it.

I thought Disney was big on the hip-hip-hooray send off; yours sounded rather dull.:confused3

WOW! THe ship IS gorgeous!! What can I say?

OH yeah... coffee addiction/snobbery? Me too. Mine took having Dutch teammates for our first 4 years in Crapistan. It was just "what you do". Never looked back. Nescafe was aptly described by you--- "a slight step above Pennzoil".

Anyway, great report!! THanks for writing!

We take Bonine, too. Doesn't make you as drowsy.. Other name: Meclazine

well you can take over for me if you promise to keep up with it...if we get first you can have the prize.
:thumbsup2

if we dont, then you owe me a prize.

Okay, all caught up finally, she says as she wipes sweat off her brow.

Liesa, I love all the "artsy" photos you took. I always think I'm going to do that, and it seems we can't help being in commando mode. Maybe a solo day would be in order. But then I'm not artistic, so some of these things escape me, I think. (At least that's my excuse :rotfl2:)

What's with the dirty diaper right outside your door? At least put it at your own doorstep KWIM?

When I saw you say POP dunk (or swim?) I thought it said Poop - I still had those lovely images from the wonderfully educational RP tour!:rotfl:

Nice tiara! So perfect for a princess greeting all her royal subjects!

I noticed your first weenie ride was to the restroom!:rotfl:

Okay, my guess for H: Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue nearby are Hay Bales and Hayseeds waiting to take your picture with said Hay Bales!

How did I miss this post?? I'm so sorry I didn't respond. Now I look like a bigger jerk than usual! :rotfl2:

Thank you SO much for reading it! And your very kind compliments--you just made my day! :goodvibes

Oh, and Earl definitely would have been my choice. We needed to defer to the kids at that point, though.

sweet :cool1:

and im wondering how i missed your link to your TR in your signature, and what is this about a ticker going away, i wonder if the news is in the report.
:surfweb:

Come on over! I should make you drink all that coffee until I spill the beans, but you might get jittery or spend too much time on restroom breaks! We didn't re-book, but the ticker reset itself for 11 mos from now - I wish! So I took it off and I thought that was a funny way to say I have no ticker.:sad2:

We are planning a family trip with all 10 of us for 2013 - just not sure if it will be March or June depending on coordinating the Texas and Oregon school dates for the grandkids.

ok I know I haven't been playing (didn't seem fair since I knew several before it started) but I do love your H!

Hoop and Hay

You guys don't want to miss this story...especially my autism Momma's and Dad's out there!

:surfweb:

It is this post…really it is at this point in my "Disney" life…that I come to the conclusion that Disney planning is not about me. :rolleyes1

My plans for this family and their trip have been their ideas…and their desires…and I discussed all of the plans with all of them...

But when it comes right down to it, it was really too much about me - me wanting them to experience this or that - me wanting them to eat here or there…and certainly ME wanting them to be here or there at a certain time so we could accomplish this or that. :cool2:

But they were having a BLAST! :yay: :rockband:party:

While Sarah and I were doing the American Idol audition and the "big rides" and Beauty and the Beast - they have been having a great time at the resort just exploring and hanging out! They are completely happy when we meet up with them a little after our ADR time! They have not "missed" anything - they have been having a blast doing their own thing all morning and are perfectly happy not doing each thing on the list in my head. :teacher:

So…I decide here (really an hour or so after this meal…but I don't want to spoil that bit of magic for ya!) that I should just relax and let things happen as they happen!

No more 17 point plans of being here or there…really. No more! Not with first time visitors to Disney. :flower3:

Disney magic just happens. And it usually happens when my plans have fallen apart! :upsidedow God has got this under control. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

PS - I used this knowledge when I "planned" Lauren's trip - it was probably my best planned trip so far! Relaxed! Fun! I certainly planned some key things - but not every second we would be gone…maybe I will do a pictorial TR of her trip at some point…:rolleyes1

But…back to this trip!!!!

So…we met up and we headed to 50's Prime Time Cafe!

As we were walking over there, Tricia and I were talking. She had been completely amazed at how much Baker was interacting with the people and things around them. Disney is just perfect for him. He has been coming out of his shell and interacting…I mean, it isn't like he is holding conversations with complete strangers…but he was certainly acting different.

As you guys are probably aware - the 50's Prime Time Cafe is full of fun CM's that like to play jokes and such - and they were having some fun with Baker's Dad! And he was totally playing along!

Check out this picture!!

disneysept2010day2101.jpg

How much fun is that! We were all just laughing and carrying on with him!

We ordered something for Baker - but he wasn't really touching his meal. I think at some point we had mentioned to the staff that Baker has autism…anyway…we were trying to figure out what he might like instead when Baker did something that amazed us all…

(You don't want to miss this...)

He said…

Out loud…

"Grilled Cheese, Please"

Now at first we didn't quite hear him? We thought he had said something on purpose…but it was loud in there and we didn't really hear him…

So…he REPEATED…

"Grilled Cheese, Please"

Now…I just gotta tell you. I had heard Baker say "Momma"…maybe once or twice. And I had heard him repeat "Mickey" once, too! But Baker doesn't talk much at all. And he certainly does not talk in sentences! And he definitely doesn't ask for what he wants to eat!!!!

Dude!

We were all stunned…and then he said it AGAIN…three times, my friends!!!

"Grilled Cheese, Please!"

Seriously…we were crying at the table. Tricia…was sitting there in tears - good tears, of course! The waitress was so awesome! She left and came back in a FLASH with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich - cut just the way he likes it into two triangles. (How she knew that, I have NO idea!) The chef came by to see us and find out if Baker liked the grilled cheese! It was perfect!!!!

Blown away......I was completely blown away!

And that isn't the best part of this day….:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

It is coming, though! It is coming!!! :goodvibes

WOW! Maroo. That truly is amazing. Disney is really a magical place for everyone. I'm excited to hear the rest.:thumbsup2

Aww, Maroo....had me crying happy tears too!! Truly amazing what effect a Disney magic can have and in perhaps the least expected ways.

Wonderful, just wonderful....cannot wait to read more!:grouphug:

:goodvibes That is a GREAT story Mary, I've got tears coming down my face, what a wonderful moment to share with his family
