ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Thanks!! The girls are sewing their own entirely. I have sewn garments a little- but my forte is quilting, which I haven't done for months. We are getting a TON of help on these dresses. One young gal has been coming once a week for 3 weeks to help us alter the patterns to fit us more accurately, (the bodices are VERY tricky to get to look "right") and to help us through the sewing process. I CAN NOT say I could have done these dresses without her, and am unspeakably grateful to her for all her help!! :worship:

Actually, the dresses is for an entirely different event than the birthday party. Every Thursday, the girls and I, and sometimes Mike, go to an English Country Dancing Club. Every other month we have a formal ball where costuming is encouraged. May 21st, the next ball, is a Regency themed ball. Every ball is a different theme, but we always do English Country or Contra dancing. Sometimes we throw in an Irish jig or Circle Dances.

The birthday party is on the 28th, and its theme is "Masks". The girls have always wanted one of those Italian masquerade masks, so I picked each of them up at Pier 1 when I ran across them. THen I got to thinking. I could easily draw some spiritual lessons from "masks" and thought about a few words I could say about NOT wearing them to cover up our true personalities or to hide behind- "Let your light shine" etc.... Still praying aobut what to speak on for this....

I didn't realize your girls were doing their own sewing, that's impressive! How nice that you're able to have someone come by to help with them too. The bodices look complicated to me. I'd just pay someone to make one for me!

So you're a quilter then. I would love to embark on that someday as I've always dreamed of making a special quilt for each of my girls. Something special that they could always have, you know?:goodvibes

A formal ball? Swoon! I think you mentioned that once before but wow does it sound fun. And a Regency themed one? Oh sweet heaven!:goodvibes

I like the b-day party theme, masks. I went through a similar phase when I about fifteen and loved those Venetian looking ones! Great idea using that theme to elaborate on letting your light shine before others! A great verse too by the way.:goodvibes Definitely a great character lesson there. Good luck with it.:goodvibes

So many different jokes here, and I don't think I am allowed to type any of them. :rotfl2:

It'd be walking a fine line for sure.

Looks like you found one for me! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Gotcha covered! (Boy, that sounds ironic coming from me! :lmao:)

That's one of the best photo spots in the whole resort. Great shot!

I only wish I knew where I took it from! :confused3

Not a clue. Thank goodness your letters quiz hasn't included shots out of the stores, because then I'd be sunk!

I knew that'd disqualify ALL the guys right off the bat. :rotfl2:

Wow! I had no idea you found my room! Next time knock and say hi, will ya?

:lmao: Hillbilly!

:woohoo::cool1::banana: for being an official winner!

:cool1::woohoo::banana: for no Avon products! Thanks for thinking up a fun game that I don't suck at. :rotfl:

I don't see a place in my PM box to send your cool and fabulous prize yet. I pretty much suck at Glenn's, but had a rousing rebound in Marv's last round! :woohoo: Glad you're enjoying this one!

I'll submit my guess for G here:

Awesome job!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome back! I for one am glad you are doing the game in parts because I am just in time! I still hope to go back and read but we shall see.

My guesses are:

As for sewing, I treated myself to a serger but have no idea how to set it up or use it! Bring your sewing to PA - you can use my serger and teach me how to do it! Your outfits look great!

YEP! A perfect time for anyone who didn't get in on Part 1 to join in!! I hope we have a LOT more players this time around- seems to be an easy enough game to do well at to me. ;) Just gotta play!

I actually HAVE a serger than my MIL left, but have no clue how to use it. I need to go to a sewing shop and have a lesson or two.

Ooh, nice ninja jobbie there!

We actually had to make up "mock" bodices out of junk fabric to get the right fit. SO glad we did, as several adjustments had to be made to the pattern!! I would have had ZERO clue on how to alter the pattern to make things look better, so her help has been invaluable!

Yep. I have even sold one once- (hi Mary!) I'd love to do more of that!! I can custom design :) I made each of my kids one, and they do love them!!

Every year, there is at least one Regency themed ball, as that is the period of dance we do. It's pretty funny to have the next one be a Sci-Fi ball; it'll be interesting to see English Country style dance with antennae and green faces!

I love your pictures of AK. I am so jealous of people who get to do solo trips and actually enjoy the details around the parks. I am traveling with a 6 year old and she is very distracting.

I have never seen the sausage tree. Very interesting.

Darn :headache: No winnings for me this time. Oh well. Time for a fresh start!

My guess:

Grand Floridian
Nearby you can find the Garden View Tea Lounge

Hi Leisa,
Here is my guess for this new round!

Grand Floridian, Gasparilla Grill, Grand Floridian Cafe

And those dresses! WOW gorgeous! :)

I sure enjoyed my time there for sure! I doubt I'll ever get another solo trip EVER. So I had to make the very best of what I got! Small kids can be both VERY distracting, but they can also bring a child' perspective that is also very refreshing. I wouldn't trade my kids' smiles and giggles for anything at WDW! We made some really life-long memories together there! But you are right- many of the details are really lost on them. Try a Hidden MIckey game and I'll bet she will start to notice a lot more, though. :goodvibes

Sure you don't want to play the Where in the World game with us?? We'd love to have you guess along!

That sausage tree is just plain weird! A very cool oddity to seek out!

Darn :headache: No winnings for me this time. Oh well. Time for a fresh start!

My guess:

I think you may have missed the first round or so. But hey, a fresh start and a new chance!!

Hi Leisa,
Here is my guess for this new round!

And those dresses! WOW gorgeous! :)

Got 'em down!! Great job on Round 1!

THanks- they are proving to be a ton of work, but will be worth it in the end. Even big girls like to dress up. :goodvibes

/
sweet not only the dresses but also getting tied for first for this round.

i was going to say that there is no way i can keep up the first place spot with going on vacation pretty soon, so it is nice to see that you are splitting it up
:thumbsup2

although i will be out of the running for the overall prize.
:guilty:
'
but i get the best prize in meeting you in person.
:thumbsup2

so with sucking up done, i will go with.....

grand floridian...and i think most people will go with the garden view loung as there guess, but im going to go a little further and say that within a two minute walk you should be able to make it to.

Gasparilla grill and games which is located past the garden view loung.

:yay:Yeah me for winning round 1. I'll PM you later for my prize(an all expenses paid trip to WDW right? ;))

I love the dresses. So pretty. Learning to sew has always been on my bucket list. Some day I'll have the time.

Now for my G guess. I'm goona say Grand Floridian and Garden View Lounge or Gasparilla Grill

Okay Liessa I am stumped on 'G' right now !! I am gonna give it some thought!!The gowns are gorgeous !!!!

On FairFax Faire !!When I ate there the chicken was delish ,juicy tender, and flavourful. The BRISKET (which may be back on) was mouthwatering . I saw the ribs and they were anything but dry !!So did I get lucky or is everyone else unlucky. I know Winkers and DJay enjoyed their ribs . I personally did not care for FTB ribs so go figure !!

Ooh, nice ninja jobbie there!

Well, I am part ninja, on my father's side...:cool2:

We actually had to make up "mock" bodices out of junk fabric to get the right fit. SO glad we did, as several adjustments had to be made to the pattern!! I would have had ZERO clue on how to alter the pattern to make things look better, so her help has been invaluable!

Smart! What a waste of fabric it would've been had you not done that.

Yep. I have even sold one once- (hi Mary!) I'd love to do more of that!! I can custom design :) I made each of my kids one, and they do love them!!

Well, there's your Disney income right there! You should try to hook up with the BBC and do their costumes.:thumbsup2

Sci-Fi? Oh, I love it!! Very cool.

Well, here is my guess for "G" Grand Floridian Resort and Gasparilla Grill & Games

Your dresses look beautiful!! I don't really sew, but have a desire to learn to quilt. Just seems a little overwhelming as where to begin!!! I have created a few things in my off time, but never a quilt. If I get ambitious I would love to make a small quilt..maybe throw size for my hubby's neice that is getting married in November.

I was wondering if you'd have to bow out for Part 2- Glad you made it soundly in the winner's circle with Pt. 1!

YAY! for an opportunity to meet! Getting excited!

Sucking up only works on Marv's thread- WHERE is he by the way?

My guess is:

Okey dokey!! Got it in!:woohoo:

:yay:Yeah me for winning round 1. I'll PM you later for my prize(an all expenses paid trip to WDW right? ;))

Now for my G guess. I'm goona say

I'll be watching, and get those out, just as soon as I figure out what I"m doing.

I'm so glad I learned how, but it wasn't until I was in my 20's and now again in my 40's that I learned/am learning. I love being able to make something that is "just right" for the occassion!

Got that guess :)

:cool1::cool1: for a tied win

I'm going to have to think a bit on that picture I have an idea for the first answer but need to think on the second part.

And WOW on the dresses. Very nice. I've never made anything that elaborate/beautiful, wtg Liesa and daughters. Can't wait to see the finished product(s)

Okay Liessa I am stumped on 'G' right now !! I am gonna give it some thought!!The gowns are gorgeous !!!!

Gonna try

On FairFax Faire !!When I ate there the chicken was delish ,juicy tender, and flavourful. The BRISKET (which may be back on) was mouthwatering . I saw the ribs and they were anything but dry !!So did I get lucky or is everyone else unlucky. I know Winkers and DJay enjoyed their ribs . I personally did not care for FTB ribs so go figure !!

3rd time's a charm, Rosie! :lmao:

You are exactly who I thought of when I posted that! I remember how much you raved about it, and had I not done HBD, I'd likely have tried it. Maybe the management has changed since that review was done. :confused3

Ok, got your guess!

Ok, got your guess!

I knew you meant me :lmao:cuz I did rave about it !!I am going again in August with the family and hoping they have the brisket then !!! The coleslaw and beans were okay but the meat was sooooooo good when I had it !!That was alot of meat and I ate every dang bit of it :lmao:
As for my guess not understanding "3rd time ":confused3:rotfl2:Ya know I scoured each park map looking for an answer and then I remembered !!!!!:rolleyes1

Well, I am part ninja, on my father's side...:cool2:

And I am part Klingon. ;)

Smart! What a waste of fabric it would've been had you not done that.

Just the possibility of having to go back to the fabric store would have given me hives.

Well, there's your Disney income right there! You should try to hook up with the BBC and do their costumes.:thumbsup2

I'd much rather make and sell quilts than garments. Sleeves and gathers give me angina. So, basically, the sewing process leaves me very sapped. :lmao:

Sci-Fi? Oh, I love it!! Very cool.

So, whatcha think?? I need an easy character/ costume for that one coming up in July! :confused3

Well, here is my guess for "G"

Come on up!! I"d love to teach you how to quilt!! Really, I mean it! Small quilts are easy, and once a week for 8-10 weeks, I could easily teach you to make a small quilt- totally in time for the wedding! (It's not that far...)

:cool1::cool1: for a tied win

You DID IT!!! YAYAYAY!

Send that addie, and in a short (ish) while you'll have that well-earned prize!

I think at this rate, we'll finish JUST in time for the ball, May 21st. :lmao:
