ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

well, it happened. My netbook is deader than a doornail. Taking it back to Walmart tomorrow and hope they will simply exchange it, but if not, it's to the factory... UGH!!!

:eek:Hope you can retrieve your documents and photos!

All too soon, it was time to say good-bye to Jen and head home. We headed outside, where it had stopped raining. (I do remember hearing the rain quite loudly at one point during the night, and Camille was so excited! We were a little confused by this, until she reminded us they are usually in drought conditions in Texas, and get very happy when it rains!) Anyhoo, we stepped outside on the street, I think we barely had time to turn around, and were greeted by the strangest sight. A young man came running up the sidewalk on the left, and stopped right next to us. He said, “Hi!” He was wearing a ballet dress with a tutu skirt and the bodice was bunched up under the nipples on his bare chest. The color of the dress varied, but which of us you ask. I say it was pink; Camille says yellow; and Liesa says orange. Jen? It was dark so….

Anyway, we just stood there with our mouths open and tried to take in what we were seeing. With that, he took a couple of steps forward and then lifted up his skirt to show us his bicycle covered bottom side. He hopped and skipped down the street like Peter Pan in his bare feet. An attractive woman, appropriately dressed in a little black dress was walking next to him – not looking around, apparently embarrassed. We decided she lost a bet.

Just as they ran across the street in front of us, someone yelled, “where’s the camera? Wait! Come Back!” They didn’t hear us and didn’t stop. We said a quick good-bye to Jen and then ran after them, looking down the alley where the car was parked, but they weren’t there.

That food looked really good!

Thank God for Bicycle shorts!:scared1:

Sounds like a great DIS Meet. I'm just curious, did the thing with Ballerina Guy really happen then, or was that a flash forward and might happen someday in the future? :rotfl:

Hey, Lessa!! GREAT NEWS!! The Geek was able to retrieve all my data!!! Umm.. can you say happy dance??!! Bad news, is that it cost me $60 to do it; but hey aren't pictures worth it?? Good news... this guy was a like-minded brother who was so nice!! I totally know where to take my computer issues from now on!! Bad news... the keys are DEFINITELY a hardware issue, as he was able to confirm that by using a different OS to test it with. Good news... I just spent the last hour on a live chat with INDIA again and not only is my Acer under warranty, but they are going to cover a repair jobbie. Bad news.... if they find ANYTHING that smacks of dis-use, they won't. I doubt they will find any water spots, or anything cracked, but you never know what they might invent- so praying over this!

And now you know that whole BIG FAT Story.... ;)

hey ladies sounds like a great meet up you had.

OH, I don't think I know anyone who would do that! :lmao:

Hope everything is working out with the computer Liesa. :goodvibes

SEe above- At least I got the pictures and your next chapter back... :woohoo:

Yes, Kate, it REALLY did happen, just like that. You should have seen us running up and down the street and the alleys so we could get a picture! It was a riot! And I can only think of one character in this TR who would actually do that- (right Tater?)

Tammie... you have me rolling over here! :rotfl::rotfl:

Have a wonderful and relaxing cruise!!! :sail:

Not to beat your computer down any more than it already is but this is why I think I might spend some extra money on a MAC for Mel once I lose my computer room.... which I am in the process of losing. :sad2:

I know we had talked about "flashing" everyone in a picture, but the evening got away from us, and we never did! Shoot.

My food was awesome! Mousaka is for me. (Please do not let the tag fairy get a hold of that one!)
Is it pronounced moose-ah-kah?

ETA.... glad they are going to fix your computer.

Thanks, we will!

Oh! It was quite scarey until we realized the shorts were there. I think the presence of the shorts helped us feel brave enough to try to chase him down!

I thought you were going to mention a pole - didn't see any, or Tate would have wanted to dance with it.

Stay tuned for next week's episode :3dglasses

Thanks Tim! Glad it made you laugh! When is the baby due?

Here's the story on the netboook...

INdia told me to re-install the OS after backing up everything. I cleaned off the desktop plopping everything into Flash Drive, but completely forgot that I had pictures and all my chapters (including the next chapter on Everest) in doc folders. BUT, when I re-installed, I chose the save to backup c:/ drive, so my stuff should be safe; problem was there was a massive error in the re-install. It is now stuck in an endless loop of "restart"/ "resetting something or rathers". No pushing of buttons does anything. So, here's my dilemma, I need a hacker to recover my pictures and documents before I send it off anywhere- if it's possible. Then I can get a new one, or, or, ??

And all for the simple use of 5, 7, 9, -, and [. :sad2:

Nothing puts me in the fetal position faster than having my computer go kaput.
In the famous words of a computer game I used to play... Save early and Save often.

Yeah you need that " [ "for DISing :lmao:

Glad you found your hacker- Amazing how quickly that can be done, right?

I swear, it was so freakish, it was like we are all sort of standing there just stunned and quiet for a while, thinking, "What the WORLD...?!" I think it was a good 2 minutes before we could look at each other and bust up.

It was freaky to be sure. And so odd to see him running down the street in the rain, in a tutu, with bike shorts on underneath.

Thank God for Bicycle shorts!:scared1:

Truer words never said. I can only imagine the visual, and the hunt for him in the alleys. If I run after an Oregon duck in Epcot - you know I would have been running after TuTu man.

Geez as I was reading I was thinking you all were down in Las Vegas, a man in a tutu :rotfl2: sounds like something you'd see on the Vegas strip

Or New York City!! :lmao:

at least it didnt remind you of a certain diser who goes out in front of MK buses in there skivies.
:rolleyes1

:rolleyes1

She is due on August 13th but we are thinking she will be going a little sooner. (we hope!)

By she you mean Mel right? You have a confirmed Peterson right? :rotfl2: And by that I mean that is the name you picked out but when I started typing I had to :rotfl2: at my funny.

LOL Yes, she meaning Melody. It is 100% a Peterson.. not named Peterson! :lmao:

I think we are leaning towards Christopher. Christopher Peterson has a nice ring! :lmao:

I have a Christopher- named after a friend I grew up with. He is a good boy. However when I was working afterschool and preschool, I knew every Christopher on the first day :rolleyes1 and not always for a  reason.

As for where I got Peterson from.... i guess I was skimming a bit :confused3 :lmao:

What on EARTH has this thread morphed into??? :lmao::lmao:

I know. I hear it all the time. But here's what I DO like about the netbook...

It is small enough to throw in my daybag, and take just about anywhere. It isn't heavy, and best of all,

It really does just about everything I want it to. I can surf, type e-mails, do updates, store photos and simple Word dox, and even Skype. I don't need anything more than that, and if I do, I always have my PC upstairs.

So, why are you losing your computer room? Baby taking over?? ;)

Liesa, glad you are getting somewhere with the computer!

I thought you were going to mention a pole - didn't see any, or Tate would have wanted to dance with it.

Tate has done some crazy things, but pole dancing has never been one! :lmao:

I admit, I was pretty frustrated yesterday while on the chat with Madaprayeshpvdaoivura;mutlisvm in India. Why are companies so reluctant to just fess up to shoddy product and DISH??!

NOw, at MY expense and inconvenience, I have to mail it back and wait 10 days.

[ is just about in EVERY post you make- :lmao:

This guy was a joy to work with. He let me watch, and we chatted about all kinds of stuff. While I was there, another client came in, and instead of charging her $60 to reset her screen resolution, he accepted a meal from McDonalds. She asked if I wanted anything, so I gave her $5 for a fish filet. She dropped our bag off, and quickly left, and when we opened the bag, my $5 was in there. How nice was THAT??! We discovered rather quickly that both of us are believers, and we even prayed together over our meal. IT was just kind of a cool morning despite the poopy circumstances of my misfortune.

Stranger things have happened on the Boards. Wouldn't it be kinda cool if you actually ended up naming him Christopher Peterson?:confused3

Hopefully, he grows up to be a nice boy.... like your nephew! :thumbsup2

That my friend, will depend heavily on YOU. But you already know that... ;)

Is that the one I met?? YOu were there with a son briefly, right?? or no? UGH, I think I'm going crazy. Maybe that was from my 2008 trip where I met a nice lady and her teen son. :confused3

I'm not sure, all I know is: I am SO far behind... :sad2:

Kathy
WOW!!! IT is SOOOOOOOOO great to see you, Kathy!!!! Don't worry about how "far behind" you are. IT's tough to keep up here, even for the authors. :lmao: Just hop in when you can, and you'll be welcome!

It's your thread Liesa !!:lmao:Your wit is contagious !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I take NO responsibility for shenanigans. NONE. ;)
