ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Wow you got some fabulous shots! My favorite is the one with Everest too.

How horrid to come back to such a sight at your resort. I hope it got picked up. I can't imagine the CMs leaving something like to sit for too long. Of course I wouldn't want to be the one to pick it up.:scared:

I have to include the ToL trail for August and September !!We haven't done it and it will be another to proof to Judy that there is a lot more to see and do at Disney !!That foolish girl still thinks we've seen it all !!Wood I be Rosie if I didn't proof her wrong !!

Your parting pictures are great, LOVE the EE one, it's so picturesque.

Sorry about the headache, not fun

yuck on what was waiting for you when you got "home"

looking forward to reading about the rest of your day

sorry don't know why it double posted, the site froze and said 2 hrs of maintence then I hit refresh and my post was double posted, sorry

Cool pics! I love going to AK, there's always great times, and pics to be had. :goodvibes

Sounds like your dehydrated when you get those headaches, if your not drinking lots of water and or drinking alcohol while at those parks it catches up with you quickly.
I get the same headaches when I don't eat.

I loved staying at the POP, what little we saw of it. :lovestruc Hope they picked up the diaper soon, otherwise....that's just nasty. :scared:

Glad all is well on the DIS now, a lot of people had probelms getting on or staying on.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Ya...the dirty diaper out there is just plain NASTY! Perhaps they had an "emergency" of sorts, but for pete's sake-get out there and pick it up! :sad2:

Aside from that, a very lovely afternoon at AK! I'm looking forward to exploring the TOL trails again myself.

Hey Brook!! Looks like your new business is starting to take up a bit more of your time!! Hope it's paying off and that it's a ton of fun for you!!

I can TOTALLY understand emergencies, but yeah, pick it up- it was still there 2 hours later!

I spent a good 45 minutes on them, and I don't think I saw even a fraction of all that could be seen. I like counting the animals!

hmmm sounds like a job at disney that i want.
:sad2: i bet they give it to the college program kids.

listen up kid today your going to take care of that there sausage tree....with what you ask, well, im glad you asked.

looks like your greeting is spreading and becoming more involved, not sure what else you can take off:confused3

Could be a very intereting job. ;)

It's all the rage, this Liesa Greeting. Even the kids seem to love it! :lmao:

It was great getting a bit artsy fartsy with the POC. But, I think the subject matter far outdid the photographer. ;)

It was kind of odd to see it AND all the clothes laying around. I wonder what that family's home looks like?? or if they only toss stuff around and let it sit and fester while on vacation? :confused3

You'll enjoy it, I think. THere are WAY too many animals to even see them all in one trip!

NOPE, you definitely need to prove her wrong and show her the "often-missed-Disney".

I have accidentally double posted MANY times! Sometimes, that silly error shows up, only to show it had posted before you hit refresh. :headache: I still have a fun evening, but not at AK.... and TATE makes an appearance!

AK has certainly grown on me since our first trip in 2000. What a disappointment it was back then! Now I need at least 2 full days!

Could have been several things, MIllie, including the bright sun, not enough water, the humidity, not enough sleep, etc... who knows really.

POP opinions coming up soon...

I had problems this morning, but then again, I haven't been on much in general since I have these MASSIVE sewing projects going, along with trying to get into classes, IEP meetings for Zach, and a bit of gardening. Lots going on. Oh! And I started my running again. 1/2... here I come!

Letter F was a fairly easy one to get. If you guessed that the Streetmosphere Car was hiding “Fairfax Fare” you were absolutely correct. However, about half of you said Fairfax Fries, which I’m going to let slide. That was the old name, and was changed in late 2009 to the current iteration, which offers what this website calls “disappointing” food.

Fairfax Fare Review

I know at least one of my readers will certainly disagree!! I cannot comment on the quality myself, as I’ve not tried it. Opinions?

For the second point to the game, all you had to do was guess Fantasmic! And almost all of you did! So congratulations on another successful round.

Now, careful research concludes that the Letters A-F comprise exactly (that's assuming I toss 1 or 2 letters out, because frankly, I don't want to have to deal with X or Z) ¼ of the alphabet. That means that Part 1 of Where In the World is now over with one shy of a dozen winners. You may be saying to yourself, “I didn’t know there was going to be 4 parts to this game!” And truthfully, neither did I until about 2 weeks ago, when I thought wouldn’t it be fun to have lots of prizes? And to give everyone a fresh start 3 more times? So, here’s the plan… each quarter of the alphabet will be its own mini-game- that’s 3 more chances to learn a whole lot more about our favorite place! Doesn’t that sound fun?!

So, here are the official winners for Part 1:

Glennbo123
Flossbolna
Cap’t Oblivious
Marvali
PirateKate
lovealldisney
3prettyprincesses
JPFamilymom
nodnol
Chloe770
FauntleroyFan07

Congrats, Everyone! If you’d like to claim your prize, please PM me your address. I promise I won’t send the Boogie Man or show up with an Avon card. Really.

Although there were 11 with perfect scores, there were many more who were SO close! There would have been a bunch more had they gotten in on the first round (or last), and a few more if one or two answers weren’t just a bit off. BUT, not to worry!! Your chance to earn one of the fabulous (still don’t know what exactly that is myself…) gifts for getting all of G-L correct is coming right up!!!

DON’T miss out on this by starting TODAY with the first letter of this round--- ‘G’!!

Same Game- New Letter: 2 points possible, so read to the end!

Where in the World can this be found?

DSCN1054.jpg

And

What is one associated word (place, adjective, character? restaurant? Free choice this time) that can be found nearby? (Nearby means like within a 2 minute walk or so.)

Just white out those answers here in the thread this time to get us going.

Good luck, and have a Magical DAY!!

:woohoo: Another letter is up! As for prizes, it's not anything I'd be embarrassed for my DH to see, right?;) Infamous whips come to mind...

Ok, here's my guesses:

Grand Floridian and Gasparilla Grill!

ETA: Can I put in a request for a picture of your sewing projects please? I'd love to see what you've done!

My guess:

Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room (And I will be there next week!)

Jill in CO

You did a great job with your pictures. Your Everest shot is one of the best I have seen... beautiful!

As a mom of two toddlers, I can honestly say that I have an idea why anyone would think it is ok to leave a used diaper anywhere other the trash, much less in the middle of a walkway. What is wrong with these people?!?!:confused3

I was thinking the same thing. Climate changes and dehydration can definitely cause headaches!

AK has certainly grown on me since our first trip in 2000. What a disappointment it was back then! Now I need at least 2 full days!

We are scheduling 2 days for our Oct trip. In the past, we have only spent 1 day but never have enough time. Both of our kids love this park so I'm excited to spend more time here!

I had problems this morning, but then again, I haven't been on much in general since I have these MASSIVE sewing projects going, along with trying to get into classes, IEP meetings for Zach, and a bit of gardening. Lots going on. Oh! And I started my running again. 1/2... here I come!

Good luck... it sounds like you are very busy!

Boogie Man? Do you mean Gene Gene the Dancing Machine from the Gong Show? Link

For this round, the answer would be...
The Grand Floridian. And nearby, you can go to the Garden View Lounge for afternoon tea.

Nope. At least I don't think so. I have a boatload of work to do for my daughters' birthday party (giving a joint 16th/18th BD party for my older girs in 3 weeks) today, so haven't really given much thought to the prizes....

Pictures coming up soon, just for you! :goodvibes

OH! You lucky ducky!! That is so exciting!! Enjoy every minute you're there!

You did a great job with your pictures. Your Everest shot is one of the best I have seen... beautiful!

I set that one as my screen wallpaper- and do love it too! Thanks!

Neither can I, my friend. :sad2:

I will definitely be more vigilant next time with more breaks in A/C, and more water.

Good luck... it sounds like you are very busy!

Frightfully so right now. I thought these dresses would take one day to cut out, one day to sew, and one to embellish with lace, hand stitch hems, etc... NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! The party on May 28th is coming sooner than I'd like as well. I want it to be quite a fancy schmancy affair with a luncheon, a sermonette, games and all that, so lots to prepare for.

Molly, here ya are:

I went with a snooty Caroline Bingley look with a rich brocade that is proving difficult to work with. I can't seem to control the fraying even with a zigzag, and wish I had a serger! Obviously I have a TON more work to do, including attaching the bodice to the skirt, gathering the skirt, hand finishing the sleeves and hemming, and a bunch of lace embellishments to add. The sleeves will have tassels as well.

Mikki went with more of a day dress look- understated like Emma or Lizzy Bennett. The lace at the bottom will actually be on the dress LINING barely showing from underneath. Hers has a VERY short train (so she can still dance), and an eyelet overskirt. THe cool part of hers is that she will had the same eyelet as detachable long sleeves. All of us will wear long white gloves as well. Mikki will also put that lace you see around the neckline, and some little ribbon flowers onto lace around the bodice/skirt seam. It is simply dreamy!! I LOVE how hers is turning out.

IMG_0552.jpg

Bek is the typical busy college student, and barely has enough time to sleep being midterm week. So she's only gotten as far as her bodice. But here it is, just to show you the fabric. She went darker, will have 3/4 length sleeves, and little pink ribbon flowers along the bodice line. Hers will be pleated, rather than gathered on the back, and she wants to do some hand beading along the neckline- we'll see on that one.

So, that's what I've been busy with the last while. About halfway there...

OH MY WORD!!! Wow!! They are gorgeous! Simply stunning Liesa! What an amazing seamstress you must be.

The first one looks VERY Caroline Bingley, I love it! Though I don't care for her at all, she's sooo condescending.

The second one looks like something I'd imagine Jane Austen wearing while strolling The Cobb at Lyme Regis or in the Assembly rooms at Bath. Beautiful! This one is my favorite I think.

I love the pattern of the darker material! With pleats, I'm sure it will be stunning. I can see Lizzy wearing this while sitting at Longbourn, contemplating whether or not she loves Mr. Darcy!

Liesa, these are simply gorgeous. I'll bet your party is going to be amazing! What exactly is the theme?

Thanks for sharing!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!! The girls are sewing their own entirely. I have sewn garments a little- but my forte is quilting, which I haven't done for months. We are getting a TON of help on these dresses. One young gal has been coming once a week for 3 weeks to help us alter the patterns to fit us more accurately, (the bodices are VERY tricky to get to look "right") and to help us through the sewing process. I CAN NOT say I could have done these dresses without her, and am unspeakably grateful to her for all her help!! :worship:

Actually, the dresses is for an entirely different event than the birthday party. Every Thursday, the girls and I, and sometimes Mike, go to an English Country Dancing Club. Every other month we have a formal ball where costuming is encouraged. May 21st, the next ball, is a Regency themed ball. Every ball is a different theme, but we always do English Country or Contra dancing. Sometimes we throw in an Irish jig or Circle Dances.

The birthday party is on the 28th, and its theme is "Masks". The girls have always wanted one of those Italian masquerade masks, so I picked each of them up at Pier 1 when I ran across them. THen I got to thinking. I could easily draw some spiritual lessons from "masks" and thought about a few words I could say about NOT wearing them to cover up our true personalities or to hide behind- "Let your light shine" etc.... Still praying aobut what to speak on for this....

The first thing I came across was the famous Sausage Tree- yes, that’s really its name. Creative, eh? Did you know the staff has to hand pollinate them? Ummm... ok, that's a different kind of job.

So many different jokes here, and I don't think I am allowed to type any of them. :rotfl2:

I could have asked just who did the interviewing for that job, but refrained myself in the post. :rolleyes1

Looks like you found one for me! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That's one of the best photo spots in the whole resort. Great shot!

Can you guess which one this is, and what its animal theme is??

Not a clue. Thank goodness your letters quiz hasn't included shots out of the stores, because then I'd be sunk!

Wow! I had no idea you found my room! Next time knock and say hi, will ya?

So, here are the official winners for Part 1:

Cap’t Oblivious

Congrats, Everyone! If you’d like to claim your prize, please PM me your address. I promise I won’t send the Boogie Man or show up with an Avon card. Really.

:woohoo::cool1::banana: for being an official winner!

:cool1::woohoo::banana: for no Avon products! Thanks for thinking up a fun game that I don't suck at. :rotfl:

I'll submit my guess for G here: Grand Floridian Tea Room, near the Gasparilla Grill!

AS I LIVE AND BREATHE!!!! Jen!!!! I am elated you're back and hope you can stick around this time! When I become overwhelmed at being behind, I always just jump in where the thread is. NO apologies, it's just the way it gets sometimes.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome back! I for one am glad you are doing the game in parts because I am just in time! I still hope to go back and read but we shall see.

My guesses are: Grand Floridian and Garden View Tea room

As for sewing, I treated myself to a serger but have no idea how to set it up or use it! Bring your sewing to PA - you can use my serger and teach me how to do it! Your outfits look great!
