ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Great pix of Liesa's porch and her enjoying her blanket!!! Liessa good luck with the catering job!!!

Mary-
Those pictures look scary! I'm glad you and Lisa were safe.

What an amazing story about the CM sending Baker a little gift. That is Disney at its best!

I'm glad Baker wasn't brought in for questioning... ;)

Sounds like you ladies had a wonderful DIS meet! :wizard:

Wow, I can't believe the (non-)crowds!

Oh my gosh, Baker got busted. Glad it turned out okay.

Awesome story about that cast member sending a stuffed Mickey to Baker's room. :thumbsup2

I know it! You gotta love Sept for those low crowds! Definitely beats March! :faint:

It was so sweet of her to send him a Mickey! Especially since she didn't even know he really needed one!

Really cool pictures of Splash. I never even thought of shooting like that. Sorry Baker got busted but good to know Disney security is on it. Cool story about the Pixie Dust Mickey.

I set my camera to catch multiple shots...so I just hold down the picture button and it fires away...But I can't seem to catch the last bit of the drop...because I keep ducking! lol

Maroo, those are some amazing tornado pictures. Up in my neck of the woods, we don't get weather like that very often and on the incredibly rare occasions when we do, you can't see things because of all the hills. Glad everyone is safe.

Love the "crowd" picutres! :lmao: I dream of being able to go away in September, but as a teacher, that's never going to happen. Oh, well! :goodvibes Glad security didn't give anyone too hard a time, too.

I totally wish teachers could take a few days off like the rest of us! I know you get the summers and such...but it would be cool!

Great update Maroo, I've been waiting to hear how Baker did on his trip!:goodvibes His family's backstory is so sad! I can't imagine losing everything like that.

He looks SO happy with all his stuff on the bed, so cute! How could that CM have known! It's so awesome! And Baker has good taste, Mickey is the best!:thumbsup2

Those Splash Mountain pics are great! I should invest in a water proof camera so I can get some cool water ride pics!

OMG, Baker got busted! Now Disney security has branded him a felon! I'm glad they didn't pester him though and rather just gave his Dad the evil eye.

The crowds!!! How were you able to endure it?;) The park looks completely deserted.:woohoo: Were the low crowds a factor of when Baker took his his trip? I'm sure it helped.:goodvibes

Glad you were safe too with that tornado weather! How scary. I am terrified of tornados (yet I love that movie Twister, totally inconsistent I know!).

Thanks for the update!:goodvibes

We definitely wanted low crowds for Baker! And because I was there over Labor Day (where they could miss one less day of school - particularly Sarah - that was even better! They only missed a couple of days of school.

Tornadoes really amaze me and I find them so interesting. I have gotten so addicted to the weather stuff that I can totally see them on the radar and know where they are going - which is comforting...especially if my friends finally BELIEVE that I know where they are going and will take cover!

I LOVE my water proof camera! I have used it for lots of things...underwater pics in the summer and general pool shots where I don't worry about it getting wet. And I wish I could do a cruise so that I can take video and shots of lots of things!

Glad you are okay Maroo!!! Scarey stuff !!:scared1:

Thanks!

Great Update maroo!!I loved the pix of Baker and his Mickey!!

thnks!! :)

Maroo! So happy you and your family are okay. I'm sorry there was so much damage in the area. Scarey stuff.

Fun update with Baker! How cute he just helped himself to a snack!:rotfl2:

It looks like other places got a lot more damage than we did! We were very fortunate that it happened in the middle of day - it skipped right over schools and daycare centers and hit mainly homes and some businesses...but very few people were hurt, considering.

Great pictures going down the hill on Splash Mountain, Maroo! It makes my stomach tickle just looking at it. I can't believe the lack of crowds in September :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great start to the DIS Meet! Leisa, your house is just gorgeous!

thanks! :)

Maroo - Glad you are Ok. We got those storms a little while ago and they just "stormed" right through. Bright and sunny now. :sunny:

Love the meet update- It looks so peaceful sitting out on the deck. :cloud9:

I love how peaceful that deck looks, too!

Great update, Maroo! It's nice to know that Disney security deals with situations like that without making a scene...it probably happens all the time, with so many kids around!

And thank goodness you escaped the tornado unscathed. Tornadoes have always freaked me out -- we used to see them sometimes in WI where I grew up.

Thanks!

Tornadoes are crazy! :)

Great update Mary, wow! on the tornado. Glad you are ok.

Cute pic of Baker and Mickey, how nice of the CM

Yikes on the security issue, glad it was handled as best as could be. And hooray on those non existant crowds, September sounds like a lovely time to go.

Sept is the best, I think! Well...followed closely behind December. I love the Christmas stuff!

Maroo, glad you're okay! Tammie, great meet update!

Hope everyone is well, I'm having a hard time staying up to date around here!

Thanks!

Hi, Maroo! Love the update! I can't believe you got pictures going down Splash Mountain. They're amazing! I would have been afraid I would drop the camera.

I'm glad you got a picture of your tornado. We encountered a tornado a couple years ago. Came right down I95 while we were driving to Disney. It was unbelievably scary. Looking back on it, I do wish I had thought to take a picture of it. At the time, I was just glad it hadn't killed us.

Thanks! I had the camera wrapped around my hand! :)

I don't think I could take video DURING a tornado like those folks did...I would totally be running scared!

I have only seen one in real life and it was on a trip home to Arkansas - but it wasn't real close - it was just very flat land so we could see it really well! It was a small one.

Hidie Ho! My good Dis neighbors. :)

I wish I had been able to get here and post earlier in the week but I just had to much to do. :guilty:

As we left off I was smart mouthing the TSA and hoping I wouldn't land myself in the Portland city jail as my first place to start touring OR.

Praise God my smart donkey ways were appreciated and I'm pretty sure my hostess was thinking..."What in the world have I gotten myself into?!?" :rotfl:

Liesa, the girls and I make our way away from the tables and started some shopping!! We had fun looking in and through out the different stores, but I was becoming a very tired girl. After all, I had been up since 4:30 my time and I was starting to fade fast, we decided to part ways with the girls so they could get to their gate and for us to be heading to my new home for the next few days. :goodvibes

Before we made our way out to the van we had to stop and find a powder room. Now, something you need to know about this powder room......this powder room was fit into a weird rounded wall, it was also wedged into a corner along side a low partition wall, right next to the security area. AND! If that wasn't confusing enough.... all of it was hidden behind a very large concrete post.
When you came around the post it was kinda hard to see both bathrooms, you pretty much just saw the one closest, and when you have to "powder your nose"....well, let's just say you have a one track mind!

I stood outside the area to wait my turn since I had my luggage, and while I waited I decided to entertain myself by watching the people across this partition going through the security area. I noticed this gentleman taking off his jacket and putting it into his tray as any other person would be doing as they go through....and next thing you know.... I'm hearing a loud woman's voice saying...."Stop!! STOP!! STOOOOOOP!! I see this man who's standing at security whip around and look in the direction of.......anyone guessed it yet??!! The Men's bathroom!! :rotfl: As soon as I realized what was going on, I see a very red faced Liesa coming out of the men's "powder room," with a very horrified and embarassed look on her face! :rotfl2: We both started laughing loudly!! When she finally comes up for air she says..."Another Hoop-De-Doo!!" Makes a quick turn and walks back to the girl's room still laughing loudly. I look over in the direction of the security gate, still laughing loudly myself (where the guy was standing) just to see if anyone had noticed and sure enough there was the man I had been observing (no Marv, I wasn't "Checking him out"-just people watching) looking Liesa's way! How could he not, he was hearing and watching a woman yelling and laughing loudly as she made her way deep into the bathrooom! :rotfl2:

He was chuckling to himself and with a big smile on his face he turned to me and said...."Having a fun trip so far?!?" With which I replied without even thinking about it...."With her, it's ALWAYS a fun trip!" :rotfl:

At this point folks, I knew this was going to be a good trip! Liesa and I hadn't even made our way out of the airport and she already had us red faced, laughing loudly at ourselves and wanting for more!!

Be blessed, hope your having a great weekend. :lovestruc

Maroo, glad you're okay! Tammie, great meet update!

Hope everyone is well, I'm having a hard time staying up to date around here!

Thank you :goodvibes

Thanks for the great update, Tammie. I love the crocheted blanket .

Oh, the blankets are so cozy and warm! Like a hug from Camille every time I wrap up in it.

Love the meet update- It looks so peaceful sitting out on the deck. :cloud9:

It was a wonderfully peaceful place to be!

The next chapter DOES sound intriguing!!!

It should be fun, with Jen chiming in! Sorry about the cupcakes. You'll just have to come down here for a tour and have them here!

Great update about the Dismeet! It looks like you all had an amazing weekend. Love the blankets and the picture of you all outside, by the river. Liesa, your house is amazing! It looks beautiful out there.

It was great! The blankets were such a sweet gift!

Great pix of Liesa's porch and her enjoying her blanket!!! Liessa good luck with the catering job!!!

Thanks! Liesa, hope you get the job, too!

I almost :rotfl: again - just like when you told it to me the first time! I almost had to run for the "powder room" that time!

Great update, Camille!!!

You have a great weekend, too!

Yes, I can definitely share all the books I have and last night I was doing some reading and research for my next update, and found some REALLY cool blogs and Disney sites that are just chockfull of good info.

Ooooo, goodie! :goodvibes

Camille, a great start to your DIS meet and I can't wait to read more and see the pics. :)

Thank you Ms. Kat. :)

Definitely Rambunctious!!! ;)

Camille, I love the start to the DISmeet story - can't wait to read more!

 It's up!

Millie~~~ Love your meet story so far!

Awwww, in my favorite color! :lovestruc Hope you like the next one!

Fabulous back story, thank you so much for sharing. I will look at this area in a different light next time. Your pictures were great too.:thumbsup2

::yes::

Camille I enjoyed the start of your report on the visit to Oregon. Loved your comeback for the TSA agents and look forward to more of the visit.

Thank you Vanessa, hope the next one is to your liking too.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far! Hoping to get an update for:

Everest Excitement and Extracurricular Enjoyment up this weekend AND your Letter D photoclue!

Meantime, what's everyone up to this weekend??

My belated birthday party!! Why is it when the men in your family want to throw you a birthday party, you wind up doing all the work? Oh well! It was still good, except there were way to many people I love not there. :sad2: They live in OR, Mississippi, and many others my tired mind can't think of right now. Wished all y'all were here. :lovestruc

Hi Tammie!

Darn work keeps getting in the way of DISing...:rotfl:

Hey Jen!!

You guys know I am a total weather freak.....

Amongst other things. Did I just say that outloud?!? I just praise the Lord you and the rest of the gang are safe and sound.

And this one below was taken by me from my office!

Here is a video taken from the same tornado...

VIDEO of the Jackson, MS area tornado from today (4/15/2011)

It was crazy!

You still sounded pretty lit up by all of this when I called you that night. I didn't even know what happened! I was one crazy woman running around that day and hadn't seen hide or hair of the news. It was good to hear your voice, as always.

Sounds like you ladies had a wonderful DIS meet! :wizard:

We did!! :thumbsup2

Oh, the blankets are so cozy and warm! Like a hug from Camille every time I wrap up in it.

It was great! The blankets were such a sweet gift!

It blesses me to hear you say this, they were made with love so the hug part fits perfectly. :goodvibes

I almost :rotfl: again - just like when you told it to me the first time! I almost had to run for the "powder room" that time!

Great update, Camille!!!

You have a great weekend, too!

Thank you, I am so far. Glad you were the first one to read it, it was fun re-living it!! :rotfl:

Hiya, All,

Been a perfectly CRAZY few days with all kinds of everything going on.

Camille, I see your update, but will have to wait until tomorrow to comment, as I'm getting ready for a community meal at church tonight.

EVERYONE!! PLEASE forgive my abyssmal participation on all of your threads these days!! I will be all ready to get all caught up starting tomorrow!!:banana::banana:

I"m very excited to see what's going on out there, in the Great, Big DISWorld!!

Meanwhile, there are at least 6 players who've put guesses in on previous Game Rounds, that haven't for Letter C yet. This may be your last day to get those in!!! Hurry, Don't miss the fun!

Until then... Have a magical day!

Oh my goodness, Camille. You have me rolling on the floor with my husband wondering what the heck is the matter with me. I just turned to him and said, "it's another Liesa moment." Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to read more.

Hope you had a great weekend and an even better week up ahead.

:lmao:Great update Camille! Certainly makes me think of airport restrooms a little differently now. Liesa is going to be known for so many, um, interesting things.

It sure sounds like you ladies had a wonderful time together! Your blankets look so soft and homey too. Very lovely.:goodvibes

Thank you Ms. Kat. :goodvibes I'm glad you enjoyed Liesa's "moment," in the airport. You and your hubby are so cute, I sure hope I'm able to meet you two some day soon. :lovestruc

Thank you! I think her response when she came out was...Well, makes for more Dis fauder! We did have a great time, I hope were able to take a trip together some day. Wouldn't it be great fun for us all to be in WDW at the same time?!? It would be like one big slumber party, but at WDW!! Now that would be a blast!!

The blankets are soft! :) I like using a synthetic yarn called Caron- Simply Soft. It's not the kind of yarn our grandma's used, this is soft and cozy, not scratchy and itchy. I also used a pattern that has you using two skeins of yarn at a time with a large crochet hook, this makes for a larger pattern. The larger the pattern the heavier and cozier the blanket should come out. :goodvibes If you crochet I'd be happy to pass on the pattern, although I did change it slightly, I'd have to look at the picture again to tell you what I did differently, just let me know. :goodvibes

Maroo: very glad to hear you're ok. And awesome Splash Mountain pictures! I'm amazed you could hold the camera steady enough to get those shots. Nice work! :thumbsup2

Tammie and Camille: I'm amazed! This DISMeet report is turning into an episode of LOST--now it has flash-forwards and flashbacks in time. In any case, the view of the river looks beautiful and the men's room story was hilarious (sorry Liesa).

Ok, so here's my take on the whole "restroom episode"....

I'm non *dash* chalantly waltzing into "a" restroom. I seriously thought it was like common entrance that would divide off later, since at the point I walked in had only seen one. I was holding Anara's hand, and get this odd, strange feeling that women just don't normally wear shoes that are so big, and clunky. I kept seeing these largeish sneakers under all the stalls, and after about 3 seconds ~~ That, if you've ever made this mistake before, will feel like about 3 years~~ it finally dawned on me what was going on! So, I'm yelling ~~ yes I was really sort of yelling~~ to Anara to stop, and get us turned around. It wasn't long before I realized that yelling "STOP!" directly next to a TSA checkpoint was probably not a good idea, so of course, there was more than one person who had turned to see what was going on making things more than a bit more embarrasing that it would have been normally.

Is there anyone techie like who can answer a question for me?

On or around the 14th or so, my keyboard suddenly "sprung a few leaks". I have lost all use of "Five", "Seven", "Nine", "DASH", and the forward brackett keys. Seriously, would you all take this net book back?? or is there someone I can call for tech support??

THIS has me totally missing DISNEY and my time with Liesa and LeeAnn!

It was so like this...:rotfl: :lmao: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

So...when are we going back!?!?!??! When are we going ANYWHERE...because I refuse to miss the next big meet up!! I just REFUSE! :headache:

I am dying over here!!!!!!!

Ok...you just totally rammed right on through the bathroom story and into your keyboard problem with "sprung a few leaks!"

I was totally not out of the bathroom story and you start with...

Is there anyone techie like who can answer a question for me??

Ok...so I am like....

You are in the men's bathroom and the next question out of your mouth is "Is there anyone techie that can answer a question for me?" So...what techie question do you have about the Men's bathroom??? :lmao:

And then you sprung a leak!!!

And I am just over here :rotfl:....

Strange that all the non-functioning numbers are odd. We had a similar problem with our old laptop, with certain keys not working, but that was due to Carter having pulled them off. Probably not the case for your netbook. I suppose you've tried cleaning under the keys?

Tornadoes really amaze me and I find them so interesting. I have gotten so addicted to the weather stuff that I can totally see them on the radar and know where they are going - which is comforting...especially if my friends finally BELIEVE that I know where they are going and will take cover!

I have gotten better than the weather people.?!?! I used to get people at my old job calling me to ask about the weather all the time. :lmao: Like what is the weather at the lake going to be???We are not near the lake. It is about 30 -45 minutes away. :rotfl2:

I would also get calls asking how long the rain would last? Usually I can guess and I am usually right but around here, some storms just "pop up" and don't follow a moving front.

I can look at the weather but I am not psychic.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Liesa,

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Having fun at the airport again?!?!?! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Liesa brings the whole airport to a standstill by yelling stop at the security checkpoint. :lmao:

Can't wait for more. popcorn::
