I have been going to school doing the distance learning route for over one year, and have had no problems.

This semester I have a professor from beyond.

First the only assignments are 15 page papers four times a semester. The first paper is due tomorrow. I sent it via email to the professor yesterday. Today I get an email stating he wanted it mailed, but no address. In the syllabus, there is no address to send it to, since he is an adjunct . His phone number voice mail is full, and his mailbox (email) is full.

So far, I have emailed him twice, left a message with my college voicemail. I am afraid that I will get a late penalty on this paper.

What should I do?

Does he have a box at the college? If I remember correctly they generally do. I'd mail it to the college and department, c/o the professor.

I'd probably also contact the department secretary and let her know of your dilemma (when you sent the paper and efforts to contact the professor). Also, she may have his address.

Keep a copy of the e-mails you sent. Just in case you need to remind the professor of your efforts to avoid a penalty.

Hope this helps!

I would call the school and report this. His actions are inexcusable. Best of luck to you!

If he gives you a penalty I would print up the e-mails and send them to him as an "Oh by the way you must not have gotten these", now please rescind the penalty note. If need be go above his head unless you think he might retaliate, in which case ask for any extra assignments to boost the grade.

Hop on getting it overnighted if you want it in by tomorrow!

How frustrating for you. I hope you don't get a great penalty.

How were you supposed to know that he wanted them mailed? I hope this is a Divination class so you can learn to tell the future and know what he's going to want later in the semester....Inexcusable. Voicemail and email are probably full from other students facing the same dilemma.

I wound up calling my college, and speaking to the department chairperson in History. (its a history course).

THere is no specific dean regarding this department, and he was the highest person to speak to about it.

He was very accommodating, and had me email it to him directly. I told him about the voicemail, and email situation. The dept chair also asked me if there was any address to mail, and I told him no.

My professor doesnt' have local email (only at his university, not mine where he is an adjunct), his phone number is not my university either.

The dept head said for the paper to go to him, so I would not get a penalty. I also sent the dept. head a copy of the email which stated he preferred getting things mailed.

I would say you covered your butt rather well. ::yes::

Here's hoping! I even did some internet snooping regarding this professors other position at another university. His name/phone number is not in that colleges phone directory. His email is anothercollege.edu, (don't want to say the name), but there is no record of him in any faculty/staff directory.

I am just worried that I didn't get it in time.

As a professor, I generally require that a hard copy of the paper be mailed to me for the following reason: that way the student submits a paper that is formatted exactly they way that they desire and is not dependent on my computer or word processor or email program destroying the good looking paper they intended to submit. However, I will also note that I will allow students to email me a copy of the paper to prove they completed it on time and then snail mail the hard copy to me.

Sounds like you covered your bases. Good job. It has to feel better to get that stress off your shoulders! :)

I'd send that puppy all over creation. He'd have a copy of my paper in his email inbox, in his departmental mailbox, and in every other address I could possibly dig up. Send, send, send. :)

Good luck Cindy! Fingers crossed for an A!

Well, I finally got a hold of the professor today, and he did receive it via the dept head.

I did email it to him again at his email address, as per the syllabus. (this time the email did NOT bounce back)

I politely told him there was no address on the syllabus, just his other university email. He then stated that I could either mail it in or send it via interoffice mail from another campus. The campus he is on is further away, and my campus is right near my job.

Thats all squared away. I left a message for the department head thanking him for his effort.
