Aack!! I am about to sacrifice the budget for convenience!!

Virata, most of what we would want would be CS anyway. The only real "table service" meals I was thinking about would be some sort of character buffet (we had a hoot at 1900 Park Faire last time) and a lunch at Le Cellier (I really want to see what they have done to the poutine - I can't believe they could wreck it!!) But I'm not sure we could only do two meals a day either (we used up all our snack credits for drinks in the parks the last time we were there.) So we could use all our credits for food, and have drinks OOP - which would work for my DD as she is a big water drinker and we could get ice water at the CS places. I would just need to financially support my Diet Coke habit :woohoo: But thanks for the suggestion! If I decide we want more sit-down meals, your plan probably would save me some money!

The quick service plan also includes a refillable mug for each person, where u can get unlimited drinks from the food court at your resort, during your stay.. this will definitely be a money saver. the machines even have filtered water. when we go to disney we buy mugs each trip. we are heavy coffee drinkers and love iced tea. the mugs save soooo much $ on beverages.

I think I read somewhere that breakfast no longer includes the 1 single-serving, non-alcoholic beverage.

Oops, it was the juice that's not included! But not until January. :)

Valid for arrivals 1/1/11 - 12/31/11
Each Quick-Service Meal includes one (1) single serving:

We did the quick service and loved it

remember, you can order
water as a beverage and save it for later,
fruit as an adult dessert,
any left over snack credits can be used as take home gifts for friends and family (mickey rice crispy treats)

On departure day, we saved one credit for each of us (a sandwich from the Pop food court) for the flight home.

The bonus cost to our family was something that won't fit into a spread sheet. A happy calm mommy.

Our first trip was without the dining plan and I stressed over every dime. With the plan it was more like a game of where do I want to spend my credits now?
Can we get another ice cream? Yes! Yes we can. :thumbsup2

I did keep an excell spread sheet of how our credits were being used... :rotfl2:

I loved not lugging all of our snacks and water all week.
Just stop at a cart as the urge strikes.

How did you make out compared to what you would have paid OOP? I'm still trying to decide if the DDP will save me money or just be a convenience.

Do you think you and every member of your family will want a dessert once (if you do B&L) or twice a day (L&D)? I remember a person at a MK CS (I forget which one) who was trying to give away the chocolate cake they got with their QSDP. They said they were tired of it and nobody wanted it. To be honest it looked horrid and I love chocolate cake.

Just a quick look on AllEars shows, I will pick the most expensive entree and dessert (There might be tax on these numbers):

MK - Pecos Bills - Deluxe 1/3-Pound Angus Cheeseburger - topped with bacon, onion rings, and barbeque sauce served with french fries or apple slices $9.09 / Carrot Cake $3.59 / Orange Juice $2.59 = $15.27

Snacks - 2 waters $2.50 = $5.00

Total for the day is $15.27 * 2 + $5.00 = $35.54

The QSDP is $31.99.

This would be cheaper. But what if you decided to not eat dessert then you total is $35.54 - $3.59 * 2 = $28.36. Then OOP is cheaper.

You can also just order ice water and a burger only and save more money.

We did the QSDP this summer and we enjoyed it. We really liked the refillable mugs that we brought home and still use. I would get coffee in the morning, we'd use it for our drinks at dinner time and then get drinks for the morning for breakfast. If we ate dinner at the food court on our resort, instead of desert we started getting the rice krispie treats and got a bunch of those to take home and enjoy later.

The chocolate cake, I have to agree...it had like 2 inches of icing on top of it, but alot of the deserts were really tasty! My two younger kids were tired of the same old kid's menu--chicken nuggets, burger, macaroni, pizza...my kids eat regular adult food and toward the end it was hard finding them something they would enjoy for lunch/dinner. I think the dining plan is best for the adults for sure. And the best value was definitely Wolf Gang Puck's Express!

I have run the numbers - I'm a bit obsessed with Excel :lmao:

The "estimate" part of it is about $300 that I figure we MIGHT spend on TS meals outside of the QS dining plan, plus the extra for park tickets if we don't buy the Homeschool Days YES tickets. With the a la carte food, I figured we would probably spend about $500 on food, and $350 for park tickets, and $450 for the room (taking advantage of the 25% discount). So the a la carte price is about $1300. The QS Value package is $1290, with two meals a day. So we MIGHT spend extra on meals if we're hungry that day. Maybe $300 over the course of the week. But the package is done altogether, I don't have to keep an eye out for booking the Homeschool tickets, I don't get them separately from the package and have to worry about losing hard tickets, etc etc. I just dunno. The $300 is calling to me, but my worrywart nature tells me to take the package because there's less to worry about and screw up due to (my) possible human error.

Do your self a favor go with the free dining. I think you will find with the 2 meals and 2 snacks per person a day it will be enough food. We are doing 2 TS meals. 1 we bought a gc for T-rex the other garden grill we have rewards dollars to use towards that. Plus don't forget the handy mugs for beverages. We are booking are free dining package for next year tommorow.
