So we just got what we thought was an awsome deal on a hotel through priceline....that is until we got the name of the hotel and after researching the hotel found that we have to pay for parking at $12 a day:scared1:. Wow that is outrageous. So my question is...Is there anywhere that we can park our cars in the surrounding area for free or at least cheaper that this, without getting our cars towed? :confused3 Here we thought we were doing great by buying APs to have free parking... if only that covered the hotel parking also...ha ha ha:lmao: In our group of 13 we will have 3 different cars for 9 days that is alot of money for parking. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

i just went to universal studios and they charged me $14 to park... and thats just the regular lot, the VIP log was $25... :|

who the hell pays $25 for parking?

No kidding...what im wondering is if I "forget" to drive my car to the hotel from the park will they tow me...he he he...I am only joking.

For future priceline bookings, research on betterbidding dot com FIRST. They will give you a really solid idea of what hotels you're being offered (by description and area as well as star rating), so you can then go to the websites to look it up before making that bid.

For instance, when we used hotwire (the website does both hotwire and priceline), I read posts there for a good few weeks. Then went through hotwire slowly, and when I got to the descriptions of the hotels, I went back to the other site and realized I was being shown one of two hotels. Their websites showed a parking rate of $15/night, we were going to have a rental car, so it was important to know! I did get the hotel, but with eyes open. Definitely better than being surprised.

So now you know for the future. Sorry you had to find out too late!

Wow a 9 day trip and 3 cars? That is quite a chunk of change :( I've never used Priceline, is it refundable? There are other hotels with free parking or at least parking in the $5.00 range. Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere (safe at least) that you could leave your cars as an alternative.

Priceline is not refundable unfortunately. I just got a hotel I'm not very pleased with, but oh well (no shuttle, parking fees, internet fees)

Even with the parking fees, you come out considerably ahead. My last stay was won on Priceline. I got the Crowne Plaza anaheim for $42/night (or around there) and they also charge a resort fee of $12/night. $54/night is not bad considering that includes parking, internet access, a shuttle, and the rooms are really comfortable. I absolutely prefer hotels with shuttles than ones that are walking distance, and the price is awesome if you get a good hotel. (I am lazy and don't want to have to walk even across the street to get to my room. LOL)

Optimal strategy makes it harder to bid for lower star level hotels that might have cheaper parking rates. Most 3, 3.5 or 4 stars hotels will have parking rates that are about $12.

Have fun on your trip.

I recently got the Omni in San Diego and they charge $30/night for parking! I got such a great deal though that it is still cheaper than booking another decent hotel in the gas lamp.

I heard there is public parking across the street for much cheaper so I might go that route. Just have to ponder it for awhile.

Wow I guess I should atleast be greatful that it is only $12 and not as high as others have experienced. I dont know that I will ever book through priceline again: To many possible hidden fees. We only got then room for about $20 cheaper, so after adding the parking it isn't a deal at all especially since one of the rooms will have 2 cars so now it will be more. Oh well now we know the hard way. Thanks for everyones replies.

:rolleyes1 *raises her hand* lemme tell you the situation....lol
After 5 days of DL, we decided we would try one other park before we left...DH's idea was Universal...we were tired, our legs were sore and when they offered that nice parking RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE we went for it....to us it was totally worth it! What can I say? :confused3 im a pushover for convenience! :lmao:

Wow for only 20 a day cheaper I will book my own hotel using a hotel website. I use priceline to get significant savings like a hotel that would be 120 to book with discounts on the hotel website for maybe 50-60 a night. So even with the fees I am still saving several hundred on a few night stay.

I'm with you - our hotel is $50 cheaper than any rate posted, which is $40/night on a weekend! Score!

OP: We had to pay parking fees in the past and it sucked! At least at the Hyatt Regency they have a guard gated lot. Anaheim Marriott Suites does not so its a joke having to pay it there... Also, I would check the hotel's policy as some only let you have one car per room.

For $12.00 a night, I'd want someones fanny sitting next to my car with a 'take no prisoners' attitude. ;)

That is what i was thinking.or maybe crubside service...:rotfl2: Is that asking to much. :confused3 Oh well looks like we will just be stuck with paying that fee. I will definately know better from now on.

OP what hotel is it? That will help determine whether there might be closer off hotel site parking available.......

I'm presuming you are driving from home, but if you're flying and then renting cars maybe you could take a shuttle and only rent the cars (or large van) for the days you need them for day trips or whatever.

Also (question to everyone) don't some hotels charge a "resort fee" which includes parking and which you're stuck with whether or not you have a car? If that's the case here then there's no point in trying to evade the resort/parking fee. Just wondering... :rolleyes1

Yeah we have had the same problem with priceline. But usually it is still cheaper when you add in the parking fees than if you booked the hotel yourself. And for those of you not familiar with priceline- these fees are not special to priceline/hotwire- it's just the fact that when you book your own hotel you look at those things so you know in advance.

I highly recommend betterbidding.com as someone previously mentioned. It will help you figure out what to bid and it lists the hotels in each category/city so you can research them first so there will be no surprises.

Can you at least leave your car at the hotel and use ART to avoid DL parking fees? Many hotels in the area have a fee if you have more than one car (or they will only give you a permit for one). The Hilton will let you use their parking garage, but I think it is $15 so your price is better! Good luck!

We are actually staying at the Clarion. From the reviews that most give of this perticular hotel, it isnt the best quality so it is odd to me that they charge for parking as though they are a Hyatt or Hilton, as far as I know that is about as much as the higher end places in the area charge.

I remember those parking charges..uhg! It can detract from the overall price you get on priceline, but as others said, you still end up saving money in the long run. The Hilton was $15/night to park in their creepy garage...the Doubletree near Orange was $12/night per car..

Now I'm going to stay at the BW Anaheim Inn w/my Dad the weekend before Christmas. I just realized they only allow 1 car per room. Since my Dad and I live in different parts of California, we have to drive there separately..Does anyone know if they just charge you for an extra parking spot?

I have a Premium Annual Pass, which includes parking at Disney lots, but I don't think it's allowable or advised to park there overnight.

It really isn't a question of the quality of the hotel, just that the location is sensitive. Many of the hotels near the Convention Center charge for parking to keep those attending conventions but not staying at the hotel from parking there. I know the Sheraton Park charges $14 per day for parking (been there -- paid that).

Ummmmm, yeah, I'm with Cathy on this. What can I say......we caved. :rolleyes1
