Aaaackkk! cost of firewood, I forgot how high!

I own land and can get all the firewood I want for free, but let's put that into perspective:

Every year I pay several times more than the lowest price mentioned here in property taxes.
If I want the wood, I have to spend time doing heavy manual labor to cut it, split it, transport it, stack it.
I have to have the chainsaw, gas and oil, an axe and a wedge.

Y'all are getting a bargain!

We recently had 2 cords delivered at $150/cord and gladly threw in an extra $20 to have it stacked. It's not a job either of us want to do anymore. The 2 cords plus a little left from last season should last through the winter.

I recently saw adds for $175+ for a cord, but we'd still have to have it delivered and stacked. So to me you got a decent price.

Western NYS here.

A cord is much larger than a face cord. I think double, so those prices are about right.

We got ten face cords cut, split and delivered for $650 this year.
We heat only with wood and will go through about 8 by Spring.
We could have got it cheaper if it wasn't seasoned. We've had years where we rotate the seasoned/unseasoned to save money. It's a lot of work.

As much of a pain it is to stack and haul into the house every day, we spend less than $650 a year on heat and our house is warm and cozy all winter. Our neighbors spend twice that for their drafty 65 degrees.. Brrrrr
